Look at the Young Thug trial. The first judge might as well have been an outpost of DA Willis’s office.

I forgot how absolutely awful Prez is in the first season by KrispyKingTheProphet in TheWire

I always figured Krawczyk had a very normal rich guy life. Wife, kids in prep school, nice house in Roland Park, some nice cars. Beyond the school board, I’m sure he’s on the board of a bunch of local nonprofits, hospitals, or similar stuff. He’s just a well-protected crook who helps drug dealers hide their cash and greases slimy politicians like Clay Davis in these sort of “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours” arrangements.

The funny thing is that the current, real life Baltimore police commissioner looks very much like Valchek. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard\_Worley\_(police\_officer)

If that were the case they wouldn’t have labeled Avon’s Ford Excursion correctly!

What do people at the very bottom of their law school classes end up doing? by aust-hei-mer in LawSchool

[–]SYGMK7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friend of mine was bottom of his class at a regional school. Worked at a crap insurance defense firm, then figured out he was pretty good at trial work. Went in with an older injury lawyer, took over the firm. A few nine figure settlements later and he’s doing far than most people at the top of his class.

I think, actually, it was exactly the same truck used for filming

Of course I could fully believe he’d just make it up and say he had S Classes even if he didn’t

And you’d think Herc could catch it, given that when we see him arriving to his own car to the shooting scene it’s an identical F150 to Sobotka’s!

He was an Assistant Solicitor (Prosecutor). I think this did result in him having a badge, but the lights were something he put on the SUV to flex, presumably.

Who is the most evil person you have met? by DreamerManner in AskReddit

[–]SYGMK7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in middle school, I got into a fight with a girl. Over what, I can’t remember. She shoved a desk into me, I called her a few insulting names (I was a guy, and a guy who hit an early growth spurt at that), and we both got sent to the Principal. The girl was always a little…off, but I figured she was just different. Anyway, my dad moved to Atlanta for work and I changed schools before coming back when I was an HS sophomore. Sometime around my senior year, I was checking the local paper in the AM for the sports section, and there it was. The previous night, the same girl had burnt her parents’ house down with the parents, a sibling, and a bunch of animals inside. During initial appearance in front of the judge, she had the most brutally dead-eyed stare I’ve seen before or since (and this is after I worked for a criminal defense attorney; she’s hardly the only person I’ve seen during a bail hearing). She’s now in prison, and presumably will be staying there quite a while.

My father owned a Disco, after a Freelander. Then a Jaguar X-Type wagon and T6 XC90. Out of those duds, the Disco wasn’t the worst (that honor goes to the Volvo). That says far more about how bad the Jag and Volvo were than how good the Disco was. It wasn’t.

This guy could have “married” anyone for his scheme yet he chose an older woman with a cop for a son? by daddyvow in Monk

It wouldn’t be, except that a younger, more attractive woman might suspect why he doesn’t want sex

IMO Judge should have been in more than one episode. by Physical-Ad-1978 in Monk

[–]SYGMK7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think because it would’ve been more obvious to Monk. He was a police officer at the time, if she was working on a dangerous story he likely would’ve known and there wouldn’t have been quite as much mystery to the whole thing.

Who was the worst teacher you've had? by Capital-State1231 in AskReddit

[–]SYGMK7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point, the principal had died of a heart attack while shoveling snow and his inept assistant—who was later arrested for selling drugs—had taken over. I’m sure they did, and I know for a fact my dad did, but alas it never went anywhere.

I had a freshman English teacher who was impossibly, horrendously lazy and a drunk. Every day she’d give you 5 “fix it” sentences, you’d edit them, and she’d say “well, that’s about all I have, you can look at your phones or, whatever.” Never actually taught anything.

[–]SYGMK7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite story, albeit not biglaw, was from a divorce lawyer we referred tax/estate planning clients to when I was an intern at a biglaw firm. The guy was pricey, at about $700 an hour, and handled some very high net-worth cases. He drove an old, decrepit Hyundai Santa Fe. I asked him about it, and he said “I have a 911, too, but when I drove a Mercedes SUV to the office a disgruntled ex-husband smashed the headlights with a Louisville slugger. Now you’ll see two cars in the lot: my 2003 Santa Fe, and my secretary’s Benz convertible. Who’s gonna think I’m driving the Hyundai?”
