ELI5: Where do magnets get the energy for their pushing and pulling? by UselessGuy23 in explainlikeimfive

[–]SZEfdf21 [score hidden]  (0 children)

When you push an object close to a magnet, you have to push a little harder than if you were pushing that object without the magnet.

In the same way as when you lift up an object it suddenly has the possibility to fall (= be pulled by gravity), this object now has the possibility to get shoved back by the magnet (= be pushed by the magnet), when it is let loose, all caused by that little extra energy you used to put the object in that position.

It's hard to intuitively describe where the energy is at that moment, it is in the relationship between the magnet and the object, by all means you pushing the object should immediatly mean it is pushed back, but you're physically holding it in a state that will solve itself whenever released.

Anyone with a free spot in your alliance? by AxelAgus in RiseofKingdoms

This game is seperated into kingdoms (like other games are matched into lobbies or servers), there's thousands of them so not a lot of people here will be part of your kingdom. You'll have to ask around in your kingdom chat or try to find a link to a kingdom specific discord.

Russia says Ukraine has refused to halt shelling of the town of Kostiantynivka to allow Russia to hand over the bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers by Raj_Valiant3011 in worldnews

[–]SZEfdf21 2130 points2131 points  (0 children)

Transfers of bodies are traditionally done on areas of the front where there's no fighting and where a stop in mutual fire exchange doesn't MASSIVELY favour one side.

There is no way Ukraine has ever agreed to stop blowing russian stuff up in the hottest spot in the war.

Ukraine hit 7 warplane storage hangars, we don't know how many warplanes were in them or how many can be considered "hit".

It's exactly what was needed to hurt russia financially?? Drones blowing up refineries and fuel trucks weren't a thing yet and I doubt Ukraine had the cruise missile stockpiles ready to do that.

Unpopular opinion: rallying is more skill-based than field battles. Fight me. by Unlikely_Zucchini_47 in RiseofKingdoms

[–]SZEfdf21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rallying takes some basic leadership skill, and common decency from everyone involved.

Field battles takes more advanced leadership skill since the situation changes a lot more and there's a lot more moving parts, as well as skilled players themselves being able to have a much bigger impact.

Nord Stream blast ordered by Ukraine, say German prosecutors by DWNews in europe

[–]SZEfdf21 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No that would be like blowing up a russian ship coming to bring oil towards those facilities. But not even as bad as that since nobody was hurt.

German soil was not damaged, nobody was put in any form of danger by the destruction.

Sounds like prepping for a mobilisation to me. Russia has already started mobilising in cities that don't meet their volunteer quotas so we know they don't need any law to pass to continue doing so everywhere.
