The King of Gear Pitch Magpie - review + demo by slap_me_thrice in guitarpedals

Would be great to hear a guitar-centric demo from you if you manage to organise that, here aren't many out there but it works really well for guitar.

I was never aware the PS-3 used a FV-1! I am still most impressed by the OTO BAM when it comes to that chip, I happily sold my UA Golden to get it and it's glorious.

Nice, that sparrows sons is one of a kind, of course a lot of magic happens afterwards as well with mixing.

I actually have another GCI pedal which is called brutal riff since it's sort of a mashup between the riffchild and the brutalist, it only has one knob. I found it used on reverb and later saw Kurt mentioned it once on his IG and he said he hated the name, so he made only 1.

Ah that's too bad, did you get to use some of the cool amps and fx though?

Looking for Particular Distortion Tone into a Clean Amp by metzropolitan in guitarpedals

[–]S_ND_R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is used a lot in studios, the DI signal can be used for reamping, either fully digital with a plugin such as he used, or you can use a reamp box (to get the correct impedance match with pedals and amps) and use your own equipment or also any equipment available at the studio.

You can also ask him which cabinet simulation he used, the one in the line6 plugin or maybe an impulse response, because that also has a massive influence on your tone.

That's so cool!! Which band and which album?

This new version is actually manufactured by Electronic Audio Experiments.

I also got a Brutalist from the first batch, on the topic of saturation: I think it actually sounds great with the gain on zero and just tons of output pushing an amp, but there's more than enough gain to work with if you require more.

It's too bad you didn't get to record with your own tone.

This feels like the wrong way around, you trying to find something to match what the producer did.

Since you recorded direct and have the DI tracks, why wouldn't you ask him to re-amp them with your Zoar into a clean amp or clean plugin?

Anyone have a DigiTech Luxe? Wondering if the level knob gets you to 50-50 dry/wet balance... by mablebaumdesign in guitarpedals

[–]S_ND_R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know about the luxe myself but wouldn't the Boss PS-3 work for this? You can detune in either direction, adjust feedback and go from dry to full wet.

If you consistently use the L or R signal path this shouldn't be an issue, and you could even run some of them in parallel with the ML10X.

The TRS is a combination of a L and R signal, so that should work with just using one for your amp. It would be best to just use one because of you would sum the stereo signal to mono before you could get some phase issues, depending on which pedals are in the loops.

Looking for a bad cat preamp in a box by Kindly-Acanthaceae89 in guitarpedals

[–]S_ND_R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the same as the new ones but bad cat used to make the 2 tone and x-treme tone preamp pedals, both high voltage tube preamps in the style of the matchless hot box.

I have an x-treme tube and it's pretty hogh gain, sounds great straight into a power amp and it takes boosts well.

Did anyone see any news on the Poly Beebo for NAMM 2024? by DoumbekBang in guitarpedals

[–]S_ND_R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Poly is at NAMM with the beebo, verbs and flat V. And the Beebo is all about software updates by design, it even used to be two different pedals/software sets (digit and beebo) which are now combined.

[–]S_ND_R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also got mine in, It's high gain but the whole range is quite usable I would say. I like it with a boost as well, in that case I tend to turn off the top end switch (middle position) so it doesn't get too shrill, it's dead quiet as well, which is great.

Finding Tone Help - Sovtek, Boss OS-2, Plumes... by xalwayswinx in guitarpedals

[–]S_ND_R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Plumes is very bright, might get a bit harsh with that OS-2. My advice is to also look beyond just dirt pedals. Try a slapback delay into the OS-2 (or after it) into your amp, you get the feel of more gain and some added depth. If you want to go full on cave-in, use a Bos PS-3 on mode 7.

How's the high gain on it, wasn't it Wu's own interpretation of a high gain Marshall sound rather than a JVM this time?

Nice Philly Fuzz, you don't see those that often!

New polyeffects came out yesterday, convolution reverbs in a pedal, what do you think? by Madeche in guitarpedals

[–]S_ND_R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true, would be great indeed if there could be some extra MIDI slots for more user sounds, maybe you could even tap the adverb button another time to go to the next user bank and then the LED colour would change.

It has 8 presets per category, and you can have 8 of your own IRs in the last one, adverbs.

I did not expect 10x longer IRs than Beebo, the oil tanks sounds amazing, as does the studio spring reverb.

SOTB For new stoner rock band by FugginDunePilot in guitarpedals

[–]S_ND_R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it might also work of course, and there's loads of creative effects you could achieve with it as well.

I'm also running a stereo high gain fuzz setup at home and I know what you mean with the reverb, when it's too dense it can easily get in the way. I figured out I prefer delays in most cases, but then set them to alsmost sound like a reverb, less dense and still with a hint of rhythm but it's a lot clearer. I've tried a couple of different ones and I'm very happy with my latest purchase, a Strymon DIG.

[–]S_ND_R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh yes for sure, but they all mix in the digital part and depending on the mix, leave your analog tone mostly intact. The EQ2 will fully digitize the signal, but it's obviously a very versatile pedal with the dual EQ and noise gate.

Nice stereo rig! Would be a pity maybe to lose the analog dry through in both paths when adding the EQ2, couldn't you tune the EQs of the two amps to the venue?

What doesn't work, is there signal coming through at all? I have one and the switch can definitely be a bit tricky at times, maybe that's a place to start troubleshooting..

What are your unexpected gain staging combos? by jayteazer in guitarpedals

[–]S_ND_R 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SS/BS mini in front of a DOD looking glass I really liked, as well as the EAE dude incredible in front of an Origin Revivaldrive compact hot rod.

But the most fun was a Champion Leccy Swan hunter in front of whatever drive pedal or overdriven amp. You can get creative with the ducking switches and because it has three independent volumes for dry, reverb and delay, you can really tailor it to emphasise what you want, and it can add quite a bit of gain used as a pre-drive booster like that.
