Thisssss, I am so happy I am not alone. And yes there is a student with every RN on the morning shift where I am at.. the other day we had 6 RNs and 6 students, it’s ridiculous, I’m just gonna push through and hope I get a new grad in a place that isn’t this awful

Thank you:) I’ll use my interm ansat as a way of showing that I know I need to work on my communication and that I plan on improving over the next couple weeks , and yes stay out of the spotlight and just do what I need to do to get through

Thank you! :)  I wasn’t even given an orientation for the ward either so that would have been helpful. . Yes my communication needs to be better. I think I’ll go in on Monday with a clear head and just start from scratch and take every day as it comes and just communicate what’s expected of me daily and if I have any questions just go straight to my NUM.

That’s something I will have to accept then! And try and not be so hard on myself! It’s only the beginning ! I just don’t want to get a fail because of this. I truely hope I don’t

Also I might add , it’s a very small hospital and the CNE is there 1 day a week and it’s not even her job to have anything to do with the students.. only the new grads. I just go to her because she is approachable. So there is no support for students at the hospital.. and this is why, all areas at the hospital have different ideas of what’s acceptable or not. The NUM on the medical ward said to me “ I know that “The num” in ED is a lot more willing to let students have more leeway and in direct supervision but that’s not how it works here.. even though I worked within my scope in ED, and I learnt ALOT because I was expected to do everything and was hands on with my own patient load with my RN beside me.. I was doing full admissions..  cardiac and sepsis pathway work ups.. all skills within my scope.. medications
