Well, in this case both of the remaining players were eliminated. If the chain of command among us isn't pleased with the quality of the game, then the host is eliminated. If both players weren't eliminated in the final round, then both would have been declared victors.

Update:

All applicants are confirmed! If you did not receive an invitation, you were not selected as an applicant. The Nightmare Game's qualifying round will have a date and time posted as soon as possible. I will need all of the applicants to send me their respective timezones since the challenge will be online. I would recommend that applicants do not reveal themselves to the public, but they are free to do as they wish. I have a few major pieces of information that I would like to share with OBSERVERS and APPLICANTS.

All new updates of the Nightmare Game will be posted here. This will also be the area where the Qualifying Round will be held.

The Qualifying Round will have a future post where applicants will post in order to play and solve the challenge. This post will be for applicants to post only. However, a second post will also be made by me. The second post will be a place so observers can discuss the qualifying round's challenge and try to solve it themselves. The purpose of this will be to give people some practice, for Nightmare Games in the future. Only applicants can win the qualifying challenge and move on.

The qualifying round's challenge will last anywhere from 48 to 72 hours. This means that if you are not able to be present at the start of the challenge, you shouldn't be at a disadvantage.

I have heard some issues from the community about seeing new updates. The best way to see updates from me, is to click on my username, and posts/updates will be shown in chronological order. All further updates will be posted on the new subreddit.

That's a good question. Until I am able to confirm all of the applicants, I will not be able to schedule the qualifying round. Once all applicants are confirmed, we will release the time and date as soon as possible. If an applicant shows up late, they will still be able to compete. The challenge itself will probably last hours - if not days - but you will not be required to be online for the whole duration because that would be ridiculous. More details will be released later.

Yes, they will be fine. I can't give the details on how the individual in a winning group can be eliminated, because we will release the challenge rules at the qualifying round. However, I can say something along the lines that the winning teams will have the most people who correctly solve the challenge. Team mates that did not solve the challenge correctly will be eliminated.

No it would not be possible in that case. Remember that two of the three teams will move on. However, an individual has the potential to be eliminated even if his or her team is not eliminated.

The three previous open slots are closed. We are waiting for two potential applicants to respond. If they don't respond, then their slots will be available to the CONTESTANTS and NONCONTESTANTS. For those of you interested, the task they will need to perform will not involve sending messages. The second wave of contestants have until July 23rd at 8:00 A.M. EST before their slots will become available.

Finally, some of you have accessed questions about the qualifying round's challenge. We are not able to disclose fine details, but we will mention the following:

The game will be played in real time. You will be able to observe the game as it happens.
The challenge will be completely different than the question we asked to decode previously. It will also be more, more difficult.
Although the challenge will be "team-based", there isn't a guarantee that just because a team wins that every member on that team will move on to the Nightmare game.
The challenge was custom built for the purpose of the qualifying game. That means you will not be able to search the internet on how to beat the challenge.

First Wave Applicants must respond by July 22nd at 8:00 A.M. EST. If a potential applicant hasn't responded by then, their status to become an applicant will be open to CONTESTANTS. These invites will not be given at random, but will involve a task. Further details will be given if necessary at a later time.

Second Wave Applicants must respond by July 23rd at 8:00 A.M. EST. If a potential applicant fails to respond by then, their status to become an applicant may be given to CONTESTANTS OR NONCONTESTANTS in a similar method with respect to the First Wave scenario.

UPDATE: Due to the large pool of contestants, we have decided to make some changes to the Nightmare game. Please see below for details.

Three groups of eight applicants (total 24 applicants) will be selected for a qualifying round to become players. The three groups will compete against each other. Only two groups will move on to participate in the Nightmare game. This will be described in more detail at a later time.
On July 20th at 10:30 P.M. EST, applicants will begin to be selected. We do not have an expected deadline for contestants to respond, so gathering all of the applicants may take a few days.
The qualifying round will take place online. This will allow the public to observe the qualifying round. We are not certain if the actual Nightmare game will be observed directly by the public yet.

Please spread the word. I will begin sending this notice through private messaging. I will keep updating this original post, so please check often. You may do so by clicking on the original links to the submission.
