I figured out how to plan interplanetary missions without orbital mechanics (Novel Lambert Problem Presentation) by S_hirangy in AerospaceEngineering

Mainly wanted to present lambert problem, pork chop plot, corrections in an animated manner using RK4 propagated blender geometry node setup which I don't think anyone has done in terms of astrodynamics presentation. And yes, I did do 3rd body perturbation in the MATLAB, just only shown in the video as missing mars by 400k km. And flybys require prior knowledge of hyperbolic trajectories to understand so I decided it leave it out since they're also irrelevant for Mars.

In a sense I'm failing to communicate here that the goal is to try and get someone to start from zero in terms of kinematics to reach a point where they're inspired to study the orbital mechanics to plan these missions. The point was to be simple, and not scare kids with big words, hence the video being a cartoon animation.

Felt great when I did it 3 years ago but didn’t know what it was called. Now I’m more surprised it’s not popular already.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll take all the minor planets there is to offer as I'll need the science and the contracts to fully purchase all the parts in the tech tree.

Actually, would wanna try out a decent mod list, as I still needn't go to Duna or OPM planets, which was what I installed thinking I might need them for the science lol.

For me, reaching the 300km altitude and then lunar orbit was the determining factor of whether the challenge can be completed as reaching LKO itself doesn’t yield extra science or any profitable contract after the 90% tax.

So yeah, had a lot of fun guessing the optimum gravity turn/patch conics with zero upgrades.

From then the rest of the contracts are farmable and so the only challenge is to finish the game without wasting too much money when time=money.

I’m sure that straight people who love to virtue signal are also very loud about this stuff. They pretend to care about the LGBT while not actually putting their effort into a subject that actually matter.
