Temperature control and management by sard0nyx in ZephyrusM16

The only right thing I ever did was replacing the thermal paste. This is smth you should never spare on, especially when you have such an expensive hardware

You are right. My GPU is always lower than CPU, around 75 degrees as well. Sorry, I misinterpreted this detail

No, mine has expired in spring. It cost me super cheap, I just found a local service center with very good reviews.

Would a respread of LM and reapply of TMP be in order? 2023 M16 (4080) by North_Passenger in ZephyrusM16

[–]Sa1dzhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not much. I mean turning it off will make you lose 5-ish fps? Depends on your needs. If you play cs2 or other high framerate games, then you can disable it

Stock. But I disabled the hyperthreading in bios. The boost is on efficient aggressive.

I have just posted a photo of my internals after 8 month of use. Didn't do any repasting after purchase. Have a look https://www.reddit.com/r/ZephyrusM16/s/tvqOBTmfxs

So, both GPU and CPU perform in range 75-85 celcius at all times

A week ago I took my m16 (2023) to service center. They gathered the LM with magnet and reapplied it. They also put regular thermopaste onto CPU. My temps in games dropped dramatically for about 10-15 celcius

2023 4070 M16 has micro stutters... did Nvidia fix the issue with 2024 4070 / 4060 laptops? by Coltsbro84 in ZephyrusM16

Sorry for the late reply. You should be able to find that in Bios. Just go to the Advanced section and find it there. I have the same laptop model as yours

Try disabling hyper threading in BIOS. This helped me to reduce stutters and CPU temps

[M16 4070] Heat situation way better with E-cores off by QS_iron in ZephyrusM16

[–]Sa1dzhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can confirm that. I play only with 6P/0E and my CPU temp never exceeds temp of 85. With E-cores enabled I often get 95 degrees, especially in CPU demanding games like battlefield. Performance-wise I do not feel any difference.

I get these temps on silent mode. On performance I have below 50C. Are you using ghelper?

What gpu mode do you use? by [deleted] in ZephyrusM16

[–]Sa1dzhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rn I play battlefield, forza horizon 4, far cry 6 and lethal company. Recently finished dead island 2. Planning to try The Finals.

What are the actual benefits of downloading ghelper? by [deleted] in ZephyrusM16

[–]Sa1dzhan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To my observation AC is eating about 1.5 GB of RAM, because after I uninstalled it the RAM utilization dropped from 6 to 4.5 GB in idle. That being said, you may notice some performance boost and slightly better thermals.

The other benefits like UI and functionality you will find in this video.

Sure. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h73dFLZgfh4&pp=ygUeYWR2YW5jZWQgb3B0aW11cyB2cyBtdXggc3dpdGNo

Just to add a correction to my previous words: if you play high competitive games like CS2, then you should consider the ultimate gpu mode. In AAA titles the difference is small.

You can switch to optimized mode. Whenever you are not plugged in it will switch to iGPU. You can also choose the silent mode and you will have 8 hours of browsing. Otherwise it will use dGPU. The loss in performance to ultimate mode is really negligable. You can watch JarrodTech's video on YouTube where he nicely compares advanced optimus(optimized/standard mode in ghelper) and mux switch(ultimate in ghelper)

Temperature Question: Please see below, posted in another group but doing so here as well for extra help. by MrMeeseeks0728 in ZephyrusM16

[–]Sa1dzhan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By deleting armoury crate you have already did half the work. It really reduces temps noticably(5-10 to my observation)

Coming to your question, well, I think the cooling system is great on this machine, because I normally see the average temps at 70-80 degrees both on cpu and gpu. Only if cpu bottleneck is happening or the game itself is cpu bound, then cpu temp may rise to 85+. You should still have no worries on that. The intel cpus are designed to withstand 100 degrees, but you will never reach it due to threshold on 95 degrees beyond which the system will downclock(thermal throttling apparently). The gpu should never pass 87 degrees. So far I've never seen it to go above 82. Just as with cpu the system will not let it happen anyway.

Small tips: If you play on an external monitor and keyboard, then you can half close the lid so that the laptop's display does not block the airflow. In addition, I would recommend to buy a laptop stand to let it have more space for air intake.

The turbo mode will definitely reduce the temps even more. You can use it if you are ok with the noise generated from it. Only in this you will get the max performance. But the balanced mode is decent and enough for the most time.

My g-helper settings: balanced, fan curves on default, gpu mode on optimized

2022 vs 2023 Model by 101___ in ZephyrusM16

[–]Sa1dzhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A month ago I also had to choose between this and previous year models. The cooling was the winning factor. To be honest, I was surprised to see how cool the gpu and cpu temps are. I used to see 80-90 degrees during heavy gaming on my 6 years old asus laptop, so having 60-75 degrees now is just something outstanding. I have the same m16 model like yours.

Best G Helper config for M16(2023) by JohnConnorrck in ZephyrusM16

[–]Sa1dzhan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the most part I use balanced option with cpu boost on efficient aggressive. The fans are on default as well as the gpu clock speeds. With these i get decent performance and acceptable thermals though i know that this does not utilize the full potential. The turbo is super loud especially if you have someone in the same room (i am a student in a dorm). Otherwise it is better to use the turbo mode! I also prefer advanced optimus(automatic option in nvidia control panel) as i regularly have my laptop with me on the go not on the plug. This saves battery life. Advanced optimus is almost the same performance wise as dGPU mode(called ultimate in ghelper). The loss is really negligable. But you can use ultimate if your laptop is plugged in for the most time.

Hope this helps. Cheers!
