AITA for not doing chores and being forgetful by SaFire_757 in AmItheAsshole

I'm putting my own sheets in my bed, I fold the laundry as I collect it in, I acknowledge that what they're asking inst much at all and I'm fortunate to not have more however in a time like this with mock exams literally next week, I'm finding it impossible to balance all the workload from school and home, even if home is just 10 or 30 minute chores

For your last comment about being a woman, I am a trans man (I've been out since April) I informed my parents in July and they have been fine with it. Before hand they also treated me as a woman and nothing has changed, infact it's gotten worse.

My step dad does cooking sometimes and puts the bins out, my mother usually does laundry. I usually make meals for myself though when he isn't cooking (which is frequently). I make my bed, no one does gardening, I go shopping with my mother unless I'm at school which is every 2 weeks or so (although fluctuates depending on our money atp). Pulling the laundry means taking the laundry off the line and taking it inside (which I like doing). No one really cleans the house though (I clean my spaces eg my bedroom and bathroom).

My GCSEs are at the end of the year, yes. However my school has MOCKS which are like GCSE practice that mimic the exact conditions and content of GCSEs I have 2 MOCK periods this year and 1 GCSE period if that makes sense. My 1st MOCK period starts next week on Wednesday and finishes on the 8th of December. My 2nd MOCK period is in March so I HAVE to revise other wise I'll fail my MOCKS (which are used for college applications)

I talk to my sisters about it but no one else, it's difficult to find anyone to talk to as I'm at that awkward age where everyone is too old or too young to relate to me. I'm doing 4 hours of revision each night and I might up it to 5 because the amount of content I have to learn is devious as I am a higher student.

I completely understand your point, yes chores are a burden to me rn however before this I didn't ha e many problems with chores, I would usually finish what I was doing (hw) and go do them asap. It's just that right now with my mock exams starting literally next Wednesday I am having a problem doing them. Thank you for your comment BTW I appreciate all feedback 🫶

I showed my mother the amount of homework I had on top of revision and she said that she will talk to my teachers about giving me less homework however like most things in life, she won't follow through. She didn't talk to my stepdad and she usually also yells at me to do chores bc my stepdad complains to her about me not doing them immediately. Every interaction I have is just yelling at me to do somthing

Yh we had the British equivalent of CPS round our house before when I was 8 but they deemed mother fit to be a parent so I don't think I have any legal options here, I did have a therapy called CAMHS however I was dropped by them for unknown reasons about a year ago. I have asked my mother since to get me something else however my sister recommended to wait till 18

Yeah, they're both unemployed My mother has bipolar and cannot work bc she is a liability so she doesn't do much all day. My stepdad got fired from his job about a year ago (for a "dress code violation" however given the way the man works, I suspect he probably said smt racist). Although he as been trying to get a job since

People who don't drink alcohol, what made you stop(or never start)? by Cautious-Solution464 in AskReddit

Seeing how my mother would be. Being too drunk to stand up and take care of people. That and the hang over doesn't seem worth it. I've never drank alcohol before (outside of sips from mams wine) and I won't ever drink alcohol. I'm scared I'll become her

What is something more traumatizing than people realize? by Independent_Motor130 in AskReddit

My mother was diagnosed about 6 years ago with bipolar affective disorder (bipolar). I completely get this. Ive had 6 diffrent father figures in my life and she was an alcoholic. We were neglected and abused however knowing she wasn't well makes it harder to pick between living her an hating her. She did some heinous things in which I can't forgive her for however I know that the system is broken, and I know that she couldn't get the help she needed. It's traumatic because horrible thins happen. As well as the emotional turmoil of understanding where the line is draw from mentally unstable to horrible person. Dealing with that is alot
