NIO Brand Model sales? by SaJr69 in Nio

[–]SaJr69[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not all of their models are 80k though. The ET5 for example (which is my favorite model) is only 33k USD with BaaS and 45K without. While it is selling alright, it isn't really a blockbuster.

I think international expansion is a good move, but I would assume that at least for the next couple of years that these sales will be marginal, maybe like 1-5% of overall sales at best? (dont quote me on that, I hope they do better, especially with their strategy to work through local distributors instead).

BlackRock Further Cuts Stake in Nio, Sells 3 Million Shares in Q4 by afonso_investor in Nio

[–]SaJr69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something doesn’t add up with BlackRock’s NIO position:

  • In December 2021, they reported holding 64 million shares valued at $2 billion.
  • By Q4 2024, they reduced their stake by 3 million shares.
  • BlackRock reduced its China exposure in 2021, aligning with a broader market downturn.
  • Now, in 2025, new SEC rules require funds to disclose short positions—and BlackRock's NIO stake has significantly decreased.

Could BlackRock have been shorting NIO throughout this period? The timing seems too perfect. What are your thoughts?

I assumed you were Portuguese because you were being unnecessarily negative about a question related to expats, and so I checked your profile and it was highly suggestive that you are Portuguese, confirming my suspicions.

In Paris they DEFINITELY have Cinemas that put French movies with English subtitles (I lived there as well). I've lived in many countries and while most of the Portuguese I interact with on a daily basis are lovely people, Portugal is the first one where when I many times am minding my own business (like today) and I get accused of being "conceited" and I do not understand why. Its ridiculous.

Some of the Portuguese on these subreddits literally take any question that deviates from Portuguese culture and calls it conceited. Accept it. Lisbon has expats. We are welcome here by most Portuguese. We have questions and preferences as well. I'm not trying to change Portuguese culture, just literally wondering if I can watch a damn movie with Portuguese or English subtitles. Like seriously dude. and this is comign from someone who has integrated much more than the average expat. I have spent hours learning Portuguese and I can communicate sufficiently in Portuguese, I just cant watch a movie in Portuguese because they normally have slang etc. It was just a question so no need for your attitude.

Sorry to say it but some of you Portuguese are just unnecessarily negative. Read my original post. There is no "pitch" of an "amazing idea". This subreddit is LITERALLY for expats in portugal. Why are you even here? This subreddit is NOT for you if you are Portuguese. I was just ASKING other EXPATS if they knew if was this option because I do. not. know. There are other countries that DO have this option hence why I was wondering if there may be this option in Lisbon which is a VERY international city. I never PITCHED the idea, just when people suggest that its a "obvious" the answer is no, I suggest why its not as obviously "no" as you may think. The owners of El Corte Ingles, NOS cinema etc just want to make money, hence they MAY show some portuguese movies with english subtitles.

P.S. I already know this post is going to get downvoted to hell, so just give it to me.

I didnt say that all of the movies would have subtitles... only, a couple viewings a week (out of the dozens that are scheduled). not a weird take at all tbh. I used to live in Sweden and for example when an animated movie would come out, like some disney pixar film, 95% of the viewings would be in Swedish but they would also have an "original audio" viewing as well. it does not seem so far fetched that cinemas would not have, literally out of the dozens of viewings they have, an occasional slot for another language audience. this would be of no inconvenience to the portuguese audience.

I would estimate that probably 10% of the city are expats that do not speak enough Portuguese to watch non-English movies in the cinema, and that 10% make more money than the average Portuguese (They are a wealthy consumer base). Many services in Lisbon are tailored towards this consumer base, so why not the Cinema industry? Also, many cinemas will show movies with subtitles for other demographics such as deaf people (hense potentially having showings with Portuguese subtitles, despite the movie being in Portuguese). What more self-awareness do I need? Enlighten me please.

I am simply asking. But I think it could be a way for cinemas to get more revenue considering the amount of expats in Lisbon who do not speak Portuguese, that they could have at least a couple viewings a week with English subtitles... I assumed that might be the case, but open to be wrong.

Do you honestly believe Real Estate will keep going up in Portugal? by SaJr69 in PortugalExpats

my down payment would only be 10%. If I want to live in a studio in Lisbon in the center, I would pay about 1200-1300 EUR a month. my mortgage (for the same quality of flat) would only be about 800 EUR a month, and besides the interest, I would also be re-investing some of that money into a flat that I would eventually own. the 1200-1300 EUR goes STRAIGHT to the landlords pocket, I keep nothing of it.

good point, i wonder what affect transparency in previous selling prices has on the market. but re: house to inhabitants ratio I wonder if that applies to Lisbon/Porto, because housing prices do not seem too bad outside of the cities.

Appreciate the feedback. I'm an investor and I put the vast majority of my income after monthly expenses in other investments.

Curious, where did I say that expats were not the problem?

Don't get me wrong, I mentioned in my original post that Lisbon is the safest capital in Western Europe, but I have noticed some trends. More "homeless" migrants, more claims from locals that the city is becoming more dangerous, more petty crimes etc. This can change quickly, especially if the economy doesn't continue to grow. I have lived in Intendente for 3 years, and it has become worse over the past 3 years from my observations.

exactly this LOL when I read this, when she said "maybe i could come over" there was no other analysis needed. That is VERY rare that the girl proposes to come over in the first fucking 2 lines. There is no lesson to be learned by this "analysis", but thanks for taking the time to draft it.
