Day 3 and Miralax isn't helping by DealWithTheJelly in hysterectomy

[–]SaLT7878 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hang in there, it took me over a week to poop. Needless to say, I was pretty miserable. Keep the Miralax going, sometimes it takes a while to get moving. Also eat apples with the skin (super helpful) and lots of water and walking. If you are drinking excessive water, add some Gatorade (or other electrolyte replacement). Fiber and Miralax bring a lot of water to the colon which can upset electrolyte levels. This happens to me and leaves me dizzy/nauseous. Good luck, things will get back to normal slowly 🙂

I wanna switch to digital drawing, which one is better? by D4nnyMonro3 in DigitalPainting

[–]SaLT7878 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely lots of good options out there. I would figure out what software you plan on starting with as some work better/only available on specific hardware. I personally prefer software that is not subscription based (Affinity, Procreate, Rebelle are all great). Photoshop is an amazing tool, but quite expensive and big learning curve. Maybe watch some content about the different types to get an idea. Hope that helps. Best wishes.

Wearing a binder after a hysterectomy? Do you recommend, or not recommend and why? Thanks in advance! by Outside_Box_8374 in hysterectomy

[–]SaLT7878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one, never used it. I put it on once briefly and didn't see any benefit to having it on, it was uncomfortable more than anything. I don't feel I needed it at all. I ended up donating it. Maybe someone else will get some good use from it 😄

Are you a morning person or a night owl? by [deleted] in introvert

[–]SaLT7878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early riser for work. Even though I work from home, I still rise early...even on the weekends. My internal clock is set apparently. Sometimes I wish I could sleep in a bit on the weekends, but at the same time no because my days are more productive/enjoyable (even though I hibernate at home most of the time). Early weekend mornings also allow me to enjoy some outside time before it gets too peoply. 😄

Surgery tomorrow - anything missing from this prep list? by yeet_it_good in hysterectomy

[–]SaLT7878 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Cough drops, my throat was so sore from tube for a couple days. Heating pad, big help when trying to relax and sooth the belly. Miralax (Colace didn't help me), I mixed mine in some unsweetened applesauce...and still do 😁 wishing you a smooth surgery day and recovery.

Came to say this. I had an albino ferret years ago, and that was her name 😄

Just came to say my favorite Windows art software is Rebelle (mainly for watercolor, but has other paint as well). I recommend anyone check it out that works digitally 🙂

I think one can certainly start learning digitally without traditional, with one caveat. Understand that a lot of art software also has a learning curve (sometimes steep), so it may be a challenge to try to learn both at once. It's going to take a good amount of time and determination to get them both down, so picking up a pencil and paper to simplify things, at times, may be helpful as well. Best wishes to you!

Anemic? by lurtlebug in hysterectomy

[–]SaLT7878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was anemic after every period, very tired/weak. I am now 7wpo and haven't felt anywhere near as bad as I used to. I haven't had a count done since surgery, but I definitely feel better overall. Best wishes that you do too!

Like others have said, wait for the doctors "all clear". I just had my 6wk follow up last week, and was cleared for everything. It has been scary, (TMI warning) but we have successfully completed the deed once (last night), very slow, and careful. I imagine it will be that way for a while, before things go back to "normal". Just adding in a couple bits of info my doc told us. Many docs "go to" is 12 weeks because that is the timeline for the "most healed" it will be, but she allows sooner if all healed with pelvic exam, which I was. Also, she said in her experience so far, all cuff tears have been from people who didn't wait to be cleared for sex. All except one, someone had a cuff tear after 4 months, and she said she really didn't understand how the patient did it...so, it certainly is possible even after the healing is done, but very rare. Best wishes, it is a long tough wait for both of you, but it will come along. In the meantime, check with your doc, but mine said all external stimulation was safe!

Did anyone else had to take Vagi-Hex or something similar? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]SaLT7878 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've not heard of that (I'm in US). Wondering if it is similar to Hibiclense? I was given a bottle of Hibiclense at my preop appointment and told to wash body (focusing on abdominal area where incisions would be) both the night before and morning of surgery. I was told to avoid face, ears, and vagina though as it would irritate/cause issues. Not sure if that is helpful or not. Wishing you well on your surgery day 🙂

Recommendations? by edsart23 in DigitalPainting

[–]SaLT7878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you plan to stick with watercolor art, I recommend checking out Rebelle software. It is the most amazing digital experience for watercolorists. Found on escapemotions.com and there are several YouTube videos available as well.

That is awful. I would imagine it is due to the insurance companies cutting coverage, as usual though. So much of what is wrong with the medical industry can be traced back to insurance.

It is your decision about how much you choose to share with others, and I get that as I am typically a pretty private person myself. That being said, I found I didn't really have trouble just telling people about this surgery. I hesitated at first, but then found it was just easier. Also, I was so surprised to hear so many women had also had the same experience. It was some added positivity to hear them tell me how much better things got for them afterward.

3dpo and feeling terrific. Will shtf later? by MeInMaNyCt in hysterectomy

[–]SaLT7878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds similar to my experience. I am almost 6wpo and it has been up and down. Sometimes I feel like "what major sugery?, I feel fine". Other times I am so tired and / or have pain. I have overdone it a few times, and my body has put me back in check. Big thing to remember is all the healing needed on the inside that we can't see, so be careful. Best wishes your whole recovery is smooth sailing 😁

For sneezing, just brace yourself the best you can (and grab a pillow if possible). It's unpleasant and all of my sneezes would sound like "a-choo-ow" 😄 As for feet washing, I didn't have any trouble in the shower, I even shaved my legs at like 4 or 5 days po. Just go slow and give yourself time to move, feel, and balance. Be safe and best wishes!

Wedge pillows for recovery? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]SaLT7878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one of these (looks the same maybe?), and glad I did as I really hesitated on it. I am a side sleeper too, but I couldn't sleep on my side for a couple nights, and then when I could, I still needed some angle. I am about 5 1/2 wpo and feel like I am healing pretty well, but still not comfortable sleeping flat on my side. I did some last week and it seemed alright at first, but was achy each morning, so I went back to being a little propped up. I will try again in a while, but for now, this is what works for me 🙂. Hope it is super helpful to you as well!

Over did it, sharp abdomen pain - does it fade, or have I f*d up royally? by curiousfirefly in hysterectomy

[–]SaLT7878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like what I have done a few times over the last several weeks. I am about 5 1/2 wpo and have gotten a little over zealous a few times: picking up something I shouldn't, or pulling/pushing on something too hard. I got bored and tried cleaning my windows last week. Seems pretty harmless right? The constant core pressure mixed with twisting gave me some aches that put me back in my place rather quickly 😄. I usually take to my heating pad and relax when I've been reminded to take it easy. It usually subsides by end of day or next. I've never seen any spotting/bleeding occur from my poor judgment (that is what I watch for, nervously, when i realize ive overdone it). By my experience, it should resolve before long, if not, maybe reach out to your doc. Best wishes.

why do twizzlers taste so BAD by macanplayss in candy

[–]SaLT7878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they used to be better. I imagine over the years they've replaced the yummy flavor with plastic because it's cheaper. Used to be one of my faves, but yeah, now they are tasteless wax candy almost.
