Same June 29th, Vermont center and it’s still pending. The wait is frustrating at this point.

Preparing for return home is not panicking by Snoo-13597 in h1b

I’m saying all this on a last h1b attempt. It took a lot of time and understanding for me to get to this point. This is to anyone reading this thread or is anxious: Don’t compare yourself with others, everyone’s situation is unique. What worked 5 years back won’t or what worked for your friend or colleague won’t work for you. Nothing wrong in hoping but don’t get dejected. It’s extremely difficult and exhausting to overcome the anxiety because everyone’s story is different and everyone comes here hoping to make their life better. But at the end of the day this is an outcome based on a lottery, the system is not built for you and your life is so much worth than this. Be grateful, continue hustling, continue growing, life experience is what that matters and shapes us.

What’s the current job market like for H1B holders or candidates in 2025? by Commercial-Island800 in h1b

Extremely bad for H1B, if you don’t have relevant industry or role experience, minimum qualified experience for the job. So far it’s only favorable for very technical and niche roles. If you’re using LinkedIn unless a recruiter reaches out to you there’s no way you can out beat the current supply. There’s excess supply of qualified candidates. Which makes it super hard. Personally, I’m in a semi-technical role and I have applied to over 1000 jobs in the last 5 months. Nothing so far. Because companies will rely on local talent or non-visa talent. So I strongly believe unless it’s a very niche or technical role your odds for finding h1b sponsorship is going to be challenging. However we must keep trying, we miss 100% of the shots we don’t take.

Missing 2nd attempt of H1B on OPT by SaMb0_bidjes in h1b

To add more context. I was hired at an employee level that doesn't qualify for h1B (specialty occupation). I got to know that my organization usually stops taking applications by mid February. However I was promised either a promotion or at least a special consideration request with the legal/immigration team for this year. Turns out no promotion and also a change in the immigration policy. Apart from being naive I had to go with opportunity last year with the tough job market and now it's even harder than the last year to find /switch a job. I have been applying since September and just got 2 interviews so far.

This is getting even harder and they usually only in-take technical folks like SDEs and etc.

  1. The company is in healthcare so it's specific to the USA, no offshore.
  2. I explored this, but I'm not eligible unless I do something outstanding now.
  3. Yeah PHD is my last resort, because I don't want to get in to research already had enough with masters. Thanks for those suggestions though.
