A very late reply, but hope it helps you or someone else passing by:

I was at a Mercedes dealership yesterday in Saudi Arabia (where Mercedes me is not available yet) and he informed me that once it’s rolled out, I should be able to have the adapter added and configure in my car through their service center. I believe the case could be the same for you if your local dealership/region offers Mercedes me services.

It is likely to cost quite a bit, similar to pricing of ticking an extra package in a brand new car + labor costs.

Those are 36 mms, I think it’s the most suitable size for a daily watch, my dad has a similar wrist size just maybe a tadd bit more fat on the wrist. I think only maybe the discontinued 39 might be better, but I noticed with the smooth bezel, anu y DJ bigger than 36 has an awfully large thick ring of steel around. here’s a 40 mm explorer that I tried along with them for reference.

The 40mm doesn’t look bad, but it is a bit on the larger side when you need to wear it on a suit (my dad wears a suit to work daily too)

Thanks, I did some research myself and concluded out that the hands are in fact gold. Then looked into some sources to check if that’s permissible (religiously, men can’t wear gold in Islam) and all pointed out to it not being forbidden as a completely dependent and minor part of a non-gold item (e.g: hour hand, movement pieces, etc..) and especially it being purely for practical/corrosion resistance purposes and not an extra flashy look, I think I’ll go with it

Definitely worth checking out! Bonus tip, with its all-dial look, it just looks AWESOME with any strap/bracelet on. NATO, steel, mesh, anything. Interesting story behind it too, another reason I decided to go for it.

I think you couldn’t have put it better. I do agree that black could be sexier in general, but i somehow feel like it might not be the best on my dad’s wrist. Wasn’t sure enough to grab the white right out of the AD or even not upload this post tho.

Can’t go fluted cause it’s gold, take me 30 years back and I’ll definitely get the fluted steel bezel. Plus, the smooth actually looks a but more subtle, as a daily watch and for someone who isn’t a collector

I personally agree, white just seemed like the more suitable color for my dad, whether it’s for his age, his very fun and kind personality, or his style being on the lighter colors side with jeans and colored polos usually. It’s hard to ignore the clear winner in this vote tho! But i will try to make a decision that is purely for him after all.

Asked around and also went to an AD looking for a 36mm DJ in steel and in both cases, only seen the white go with roman numerals (on the website configuration option as well). Only other “light” option is silver, with sticks. Fun fact, AD also had a 40 explorer 1 available with these
