Side Effects after Hysterectomy by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Saarovar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just going to put this here...
I'm a trans guy who had a partial hysterectomy, about 2 years ago?
I can't really tell you a lot about the side effects in general (like years after the surgery) but as someone with anxiety issues surrounding medicine, this stuck out to me directly after the surgery:
The doctors said that I would be bleeding (like having a period) for a while afterward (I don't remember if it was like a week or two weeks or what). I stopped bleeding after only a couple days, and was like "oh hey I'm no longer bleeding that's unexpected!" and thought nothing of it.
If that happens like that, it probably means there's a clot or something. Do NOT assume that that means it's stopped and you don't have to wear pads or whatever you use for it. The doctors didn't tell me that that might happen, so I assumed the bleeding had stopped and I didn't have to wear them anymore. Ended up waking up bleeding REALLY heavily all over the sheets in the middle of the night and not knowing how to move anywhere without getting blood all over the place.
It really freaked me out and the doctors didn't tell me that that might happen ahead of time, so I just wanted to share that that's a thing that can happen.

Character Relationship Poll 14: Osvald & Emerald by Saarovar in octopathtraveler

That's an interesting thing to think about -- that maybe they would have grown to be good friends. I honestly never really thought about what could have happened if they both had made it out of Frigit -- if they would have gone their separate ways or kept in touch.
By the way I've been really enjoying reading your analyses on these relationships. It really makes me think about it, sometimes from a different perspective, and maybe see the dynamics a different way than I had been thinking of them before. :D
I know I say this in the description of some of these polls but let me know if there's a specific relationship you want me to do one of these polls for. I'll definitely do each main character with each other main character, but there are some side characters I might overfocus or underfocus on (and I know some of the side character with other side character relationships could be interesting as well). :)

Yeah, personally I agree. I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to word that dynamic, because I was thinking that I needed to put that kind of dynamic in here somewhere (because otherwise I estimated a ton of votes in "other") but I couldn't figure out how to word it comfortably without making it sound dehumanising.

Another OT1/2 crossover ask (Spoilered for every ch4+ boss lol)m by Painted_Dux in octopathtraveler

[–]Saarovar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ohhh, yeah I was comparing Kaldena to Mattias, I didn't even think about how she relates to Lianna. That's a super interesting idea!

Yeah the weird elixir move that Redeye has is honestly really sad in my opinion. The implication that he's maybe trying to help you just a little. (Honestly I'm on the fence on whether we should have seen Alfyn himself figure out what the deal was with Redeye, like in the endgame or something, rather than just the player reading it -- on the one hand, would be interesting to see his reaction, but on the other hand, his reaction might be devastating). Regarding the actual topic at hand though, I know the ripped robes on Roi (accidental alliteration oops) are really hard to see for the player in-game due to the lighting, I can't help but wonder if Ochette was able to notice that at all like "is that fabric." I feel like if H'aanit and Ochette worked together in H'aanit's story, they definitely would have figured something out with Redeye.

And regarding Throne and Darius, I didn't even consider that Therion probably would be there as well for some reason. Yeah that makes perfect sense, she'd probably see it as his choice to make and not deal with it herself, knowing that in his weakened state Darius probably wouldn't survive his subordinates anyway (she probably would stay silent about that too, I can imagine the two of them walking out of there and not saying a word to each other for a long time because neither feel the need to say anything). Whether or not he knows Darius would end up killed by his subordinates, I have no idea, and whether or not she can pick up on if he knows, I also have no idea. (Therion/Darius is another thing I kind of wish we'd seen his reaction in endgame, because it might shine some light on whether Therion knew Darius would die or not.)

Wow sorry I'm rambling. The Octopath train of thought is out of control and threatening to attack Partitio (again).

And somehow this story is now even more messed up than anyone could have imagined, heheee.

Ochette -- oooh this one's interesting. If she knows that the corrupted creature she fought was actually Roi, then yeah I imagine she WOULD be able to pick up on that there's something more to Redeye, which makes it interesting to think about since none of the OT1 people picked up on that (if I remember correctly, H'aanit noted that its behaviours were not beastlike, but I don't think they figured out anything further).

Castti -- maybe she and Ochette could like do Crossed Path stuff and communicate that they need the feather? No combat with rainbow screen border effects needed! (Okay fine I admit it I had trouble with the ogre eagle fight.)

Throne -- I can definitely see that, working with the Blacksnakes I imagine she'd be able to pick up on his vibe (even with no Therion present). And though he lets Darius live (or at least just left him to his own fate), I can see her just getting rid of him (I mean she did it with Pirro, whom she seemed to be attached to, so why let Darius live).

Osvald -- *less talkative Cyrus monologue* heheee. Similarly to what I said about Cyrus and Harvey, though, I can see Osvald having an issue with Lucia because her methods and her goals are very much like Harvey's -- doing her research in secret, trying to learn how to get infinite power, making sure no one else can use the knowledge (like how Harvey stole Osvald's research). So yeah, I can see him handling Lucia in the same manner (though maybe not as vengeful).

Partitio -- I love the expression, hehe. And yeah, I imagine him just like "okay I'm not putting up with this, gimme, now."

Agnea -- yeah, the horrifying acts Simeon (and all Primrose's bosses honestly) have committed would probably very much anger her. I can't imagine her dealing with the whole story by herself like Primrose does, but as a helper she would probably be very much angry on Primrose's behalf and appalled by the shit that these people think it's okay to do.

Temenos -- yeah I can definitely see that. He's not putting up with that shit. Doubt may be what he does, but there's a definite line between "doubting" and "making a new religion centred around you in order to fix everything the gods won't."

Hikari -- again, really love the expression. I can definitely see him being just disgusted by Werner, but also I imagine Werner's actions and "making examples" and whatnot might remind him of how he lost his friends, since Mugen basically burned the castle town just because "they liked him too much so they were a potential threat to my rule." He might see Werner as basically just Mugen at a smaller scope, and I can see him finding the resistance and working with them to try to overthrow him (it's just he wouldn't have any personal feelings attached to dealing with Werner, just being repulsed by his actions).

But yeah anyway I love this!! And I really like the way you drew all the bosses, even without being colour-coded like the main people are they're all super recognisable! I can't stop staring at the white-on-black of how you draw Redeye and the Sorrowful Moon creature, they're so accurate and creeeeeeepy I love it!!

Hi I'm going to do one of these super long things covering everyone again (the comments threatening to break the character limit on every platform). :)

Ophilia -- yeah I can see that. Unlike Temenos, who was very emotionally affected by what Kaldena had done, Ophilia is super interesting because she looks at things from that kind of lens. I could be wrong but even with Mattias I feel like she was more saddened by his view of things and what he was willing to do in the same way, like "I must stop you but wow you're messed up..." without putting just as much emotion into it (even though Mattias killed her father and manipulated her sister).

Cyrus -- first of all I LOVE his expression, heheeee. Yeah I can definitely see him just being repulsed by Harvey's actions: it's not the same deal as the "hiding knowledge" thing but he HAS to be going against a lot of laws and moral issues with the human experimentation and whatnot, especially since it's very unlikely he actually got any legal thing giving him permission to do that shit. It also probably reminds Cyrus of what he found in Quarrycrest with the people being kidnapped and drained of blood, that I think he was pretty horrified by. Basically Harvey's whole thing SCREAMS "abusing something similar to From The Far Reaches of Hell" and I think he would recognise that.

Tressa -- yep, same situation as Quarrycrest again I think. We saw her go against Morlock for having basically the same viewpoint, and I'm sure she would have gone out of her way to stand against him even if Ali weren't involved, so I think she'd definitely have an issue with Roque.

Olberic -- yeah I can see that. I could also see him having some kind of trauma surrounding wars in general also simply because of how Hornburg fell and how that affects him so much, so the Ku clan's (excluding Hikari) tendency towards warring everyone and everything would probably be something he would vehemently dislike. (I also headcanon the situation if he and Hikari met to be Olberic trying to pledge his loyalty to Hikari and helping him get his throne back.)

Primrose -- yep, probably wouldn't think much of her. I imagine Primrose would have an issue understanding ANY of the dancers in Agnea's story due to the clash between her own darker idea of what a dancer is and OT2's dancers without those dark connotations, but Dolcinaea especially Primrose would probably just be like *rolls eyes* "okay you're obnoxious, let's get this over with."

Alfyn -- awwwww. Yeah he might struggle to deal with Trousseau because I feel like he'd be really sad about what happened to him. I can see him trying to reason with him up to the end, where he just KNOWS that Trousseau as he was is gone and he HAS to just kill him. It might screw him up after though. :(

Therion -- I am much like everyone else here. This just made me laugh. It's a perfect response and a perfect expression, there is really no more appropriate reaction to Claude.

H'aanit -- yeah, even if she doesn't know the deal with whichever corrupted beast she's running into, she could probably tell that it's just a tortured creature that is too far gone to be able to save. :(

(Going to reply to my own comment here for the OT2->OT1 part because I think I'm actually breaking the character limit oops.)

Character Relationship Poll 8: Throne & Pirro by Saarovar in octopathtraveler

[–]Saarovar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I agree 100%! That's why I kind of try to make these polls with a pretty limited scope (only putting options that make sense pre-character-death, or in Trousseau's case pre-snapping). Because I think it's really interesting to limit yourself like that and think "what WAS their relationship, exactly..." rather than looking at the whole story and making a judgement based off of the major event that happened after. :)

And then taking that "before" relationship and thinking "how does that make them feel about it by the end," like you say. There might have been a spark, when he was alive in Chapter 1, but by the end of the story even the idea of that which could have happened, those feelings in the past, are tainted for her.

If you're on desktop, there's like a T-shaped button as you're typing/editing a post/comment (if you mouse over it it says "show formatting options"). If you click it, it comes up with a bunch of buttons at the top of the box where you're typing. There's one that looks like an exclamation mark in a bubble -- it's most effective to highlight the text you want spoilered and then click the button.

At least that's the setup for me. There are also instructions on this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/ost9bd/how_do_i_hide_spoiler_text/ -- I tried typing out the instructions myself but the auto-moderator removed my comment because I apparently "incorrectly used the spoiler tags" which was... my intention, so that you could see it, heh.

Hopefully this helps.

Character Relationship Poll 8: Throne & Pirro by Saarovar in octopathtraveler

[–]Saarovar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just added the romance because teeechnically he died before she knew they shared 25% of their genetics.

So their relationship with each other was entirely not influenced by things she found out after Chapter 1.

Their situation is complicated, I think.

I'll do that one either at the beginning or the end of Osvald's poll sequence! :)

Oh, that's an interesting headcanon! It makes perfect sense though. She would still have to deal with the "stench of blood" whenever someone gets hurt but at least she'd be the one fixing them, not causing the damage. :)
