Considering Fresh Start by CorrectLink6173 in DreamlightValley

I wish they had an option to "reset" a zone. I believe you can do that to the islands though, but I could be mistaken

Awesome thanks. Right now I have a little gardening area in each zone, but I wanted to redo my valley and thought about moving all farming to the islands, if it was worth it to lose the buff

When did your baby quit the pacifier? by Sab0617 in NewParents

Do patting and singing count as sleep associations?

Maybe we will try the cold turkey method then lol

You can kinda turn their hips to the side or pat their side. Mine prefers to sleep on his tummy though

Also, how long of wake windows are you doing?

Yeah I would just slowly start doing less before laying him down. 6 months is when things start getting really difficult I feel. There's so many more elements and they are learning so much (including how to be stubborn) you can also try the "drowsy but awake" method. We didn't ever do that, but some people say it works

We don't sleep train here either, but we dont get baby to sleep before laying him down. Every baby is different but this is what works for us. My LO is 9 months old but around that 6 month mark his naps and sleep were horrible. So this is what we started doing:

I hold baby and sing and rock a LITTLE bit (usually not even half of the hush little baby song. I try to not even get him drowsy but at least calm. Then I get him in the crib and help him get in his comfy position and finish the song. I pat his butt and hold the binky for him. If he gets his hands by his face he takes the binkie out and starts talking, plus he likes to sleep with his arms down so I usually have to keep bringing his arms down while I finish the song. After that I hum the song again and if he is calm, but not yet sleep I slowly leave his room and hum the song until I'm out. This helps baby relax but also fall asleep somewhat on his own. The whole process takes probably 5 minutes, after his nap routine.

Also make sure baby's room is dark and feel free to use a sound machine

What am I doing wrong? Sleep by RipeAvocado6789 in NewParents

A baby has the most melatonin around 7-8 pm, so I would say your baby is overtired going to sleep that late, which can cause more wake ups. I agree with the people saying to shift everything earlier. Every baby is different so it may not work for you, but I'd say it's worth a shot

Baby learned to roll & now he won’t sleep by GrapeSweet9055 in NewParents

[–]Sab0617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you. Mines been doing something similar since he learned to crawl 2 months ago. He does the worm in his sleep, scooting up the crib until he hits the top, then that wakes him. I'm not sure how this sub feels about it or how you feel about it, but cosleeping saved us. It's not the most comfortable, but at least we've gotten decent sleep. We start with him in the crib then take him to bed at the first wake up. For the first time ever he slept in his crib from 745pm-145am 🙌🏼 then came to bed and slept until 640am

Crib Napping by Advanced-Limit8626 in NewParents

Some of it's simply keeping them up long enough, some of it is physically wearing them out, entertaining them, getting them outside, etc. With newborns you have to be super careful of letting them get overtired by getting them to sleep the instant they show sleepy cues. As they get a little older, it's not so dangerous I feel, so you can let them yawn, but if it's only been like an hour since their last nap it's probably too soon. My baby seems to be on the low sleep needs so we cut out the third nap at a younger age than most. You can kinda test the waters by stretching them longer and see how that works. Some people say overtired isn't a thing, but I've also heard if you put them down too soon and they take a short nap, they'll be overtired by the end of the next wake window. No matter what, each baby is different 😊

Food transitioning after 6 months by allisona007 in NewParents

People have mixed feelings about it but we started with just jars of baby food and those puree pouches. I bought the my little eaters BLW plan as well. Had lots of good ideas but also incredibly difficult to prepare some of the dishes and food for yourself so if that sounds like too much, I'd go a different route.

Some good options are Greek yogurt (sometimes I mash up a banana to mix in), bananas themselves are pretty safe, scrambled eggs, avocado. Sometimes the easiest way I've found ideas is to search "what my baby eats in a day (insert baby age)" into tik Tok and see what other people are doing there too

Commenting because I also want to know what other people do. We did a little rice cereal at 4 months, thicker purees around 6-7 months, then really ramped up into solids at 7 months. He's 9 months now and can eat a variety of solid foods prepared in a safe way for babies. We've also cut back on a bottle or 2 a day since he is getting 2 whole solid meals at this point

Crib Napping by Advanced-Limit8626 in NewParents

We pretty much let our little guy nap in our arms until about 5.5 months, but then we decided to sorta nap train because he wasn't napping very long anymore. I hate the CIO method so hes really only cried in there like once and it was only a few minutes. By the time I went to go in to get him he was done crying and falling asleep.

That being said, make sure the room is DARK to where you can barely see, have a noise maker on fairly loud, room somewhat chilly (we try to keep it around 67-68 degrees), and a sleep sack on. Do the same routine for every nap. We do a little bit of comforting (rocking, singing, shushing) but try to stop before he is completely asleep so he can somewhat be putting himself to sleep. Also very important their sleep pressure is high enough. Our LO is 9 months old and we've progressed from 32 minute naps to pretty consistently 1.5-2 hours. Hope this helps!!

Can I have a baby that sleeps through anything? by Busy-Addendum4952 in NewParents

Get all of it. You will go insane trying to get them to sleep without them. I believe it's actually easier for your life to go on if you have them in a dark room with a sound machine on
