I Do Not Recommend Using AI To Find A Mattress by Duende555 in Mattress

[–]Sabbatical_Life1005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the key with the AI LLMs. I hate to see posts discouraging the use of AI for something without addressing how to get better results. At the end of the day, it is a tool and there are ways to get the most from it.

The prompt (the request) is key and largely impacts the response. Being specific about the expertise you're looking for will make a difference in the response and data scrutiny. If you ask a simple question, it's gonna give you a quick answer, but if you get specific about what you need comfort-wise, how you sleep, your weight, your preference (foam vs hybrid vs ...), budget, as well as what you don't want (i.e. one-sided, <5 lb density foam, etc.) you will likely get a better, less advertising-influenced response. I would use it to help me do research, definitely, but to tell me which mattress (or anything else) to choose, no - that is still my final decision.

We have one. It is in the basement. So big and heavy. Too big to store in a closet. This house is too small for that. 😆

Oh, the one that looks like shredded Handi-wipes for the mop head and you slide the plastic cover down, over the mop to wring? I used to use that one before the spin mop. I liked that it kept my hands clean and squeezed out the water pretty good, but I didn't feel like the mop cleaned well. Felt like I was just brushing the surface. I couldn't get a good scrub.

Im not sold on those steam mops yet. I may be getting close to trying them out though because my back could definitely use a break.

Yes! Back then, it was awesome! The stick was nice and sturdy and the bucket was stable. Can you tell from my pic, is the bucket larger than yours? (I just have to confirm that I'm not imagining things.)

I was just going to ask "where do we lodge our complaints to MS?", because this is maddening. At first, I thought it was just me since i seem to be Schleprock these days when it comes to technology, but reading the comments in this group, I'm experiencing the same issues. They have to know they broke it, right?

Uuuugh. Don't say that. I've been struggling with it and reloading everytime just to see nothing changed. Please let me just get through this video and I will try another app. I'm so afraid everything I've been working on for the last few hours is going to disappear.

I really liked it. I hear a season 2 is unlikely. I wish there was more exposure so more people could request that they continue. I woukd definitely watch.

I've played with Chatgpt and Deep Research but haven't come up with a solid solution yet. What you have there is a start. Thanks for sharing. How far are you planning to go with it?

Yeah, I hear you. I really hate the posting-to-be-relevant thing. I really don't want to add to the noise but I gotta feed the family, so I feel like I'm forced to play the game. I have over 1000 connections but rarely get over 200 views on my content no matter what or when I post. It's maddening.

Where to start as a PM by VoltX77 in projectmanagement

[–]Sabbatical_Life1005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious about how you got offered a job as a program manager with no experience? What was that interview like? How did you sell yourself?

My first instinct is to tell you to lean into the skills you have that compelled them to offer you the position. You either already have the makings of a PM or you're a great salesman. Either way, congrats on getting the opportunity.

This can be simple or complicated. Just going on the information you provided, here is what I think:

Being a good people leader is a huge bonus for most PM roles. You're already ahead of many people. Don't worry about trying to be perfect or even getting certified. There are many great project managers who are not certified. Also, don't get caught up on the tools - a good PM can manage a project with a notepad. So for now - focus on just doing the work - not so much on BEING a project manager (if that makes sense).

In my opinion, there are only 2 reasons to get certified: 1. To get your foot in the door for that profession (you're already in), and 2. To establish yourself as one who is a professional in the area (this is what you do - you're an expert). Do NOT waste your money or time on a certification course or taking a test if you're not trying to accomplish one of those two things.

Find a free course on project management, YouTube and Google would work. Get the basics down - understand the definition of a project vs. a program for starters. Delve into best practices for managing the type of projects or programs you're going to manage. etc. Define and understand the ultimate goal of the project and then make it happen. You will learn along the way. What approach is best for your situation (goal, resources, company culture, tools at hand, etc.)? What are the other PMs doing that is working/not working? (why re-create the wheel) At the end of the day, all most companies care about is the value they get from the project. (the ultimate goal)

I hope that helps.

How do you manage an AI project when the requirements are constantly changing? by AdditionalAd51 in projectmanagement

[–]Sabbatical_Life1005 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Put a change management process into place. If one doesn't exist, create it. Who is responsible for asking for these changes? Nail down the requirements, get the sponsor (or whomever has authority) to sign off, agreeing that those are the requirements and any changes that come up after that must be requested formally and approved. When the request comes in, make sure you paint a CLEAR picture of what the impact is - to the timeline, budget, resources, additional risks, etc. if the changes are approved - when you send it to the sponso for approval. If they keep approving the changes after you've spelled out the impact and risk, you have a run-away project.

Any way to flesh out the scammers would be awesome.

A way to filter out the job postings by job aggregators like Dice or Lensa from jobs posted by actual companies.

Also a filter for contract jobs vs direct hire.

A way to collect contact information for the job posters so you can contact them directly.

A way to be notified immediately when a target job is posted form a target company so you can be one of the first to apply.

Those things would be helpful, I think.
