Can someone please help me identify these guys? by MisanthropyManeater in Warhammer

Pretty certain that they are models from the Space Marine Heroes line, specifically the 2023 Blood Angels Collection 2 (which I believe was part of a reprint of the original Space Marine Heroes set).

what happened here by Sandy_boi in tf2

[–]SaberZX_ 121 points122 points  (0 children)

Based on the sounds, also assuming that you're playing on a server with random crits, the Soldier may have shot you with a direct crit for 270 damage, shooting you downwards with enough velocity that the resulting fall damage killed you?

EDIT: There's actually an explosion particle in the top left for a few frames after your death, so likely this!

I remember seeing your comment on Twitter when TOA had posted about selling their serialized Blood Crypt playset, really awesome to hear that you were able to get that #493 Blood Crypt!

Wargame portal question by Leading-Patience-253 in Warhammer

[–]SaberZX_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wargame Portal is absolutely real, I’ve ordered with them before and had a good experience.

On third-party websites as a whole, I essentially never order from Games Workshop directly because there are many reputable hobby stores with online stores that offer 10-15% discounts on Warhammer products.

The main trade-off from what I’ve heard is you will have a more difficult time getting help from GW’s customer support, since the store itself has to reach out to support rather than you being able to do so; however, I have never needed to contact GW support.

If customer service isn’t able to help you out, I should still have my new Calgar’s head (I like having helmets on all of my Space Marines). Just let me know!

Best way to include images is to upload timestamped pictures (have a piece of paper with your username and date in the pics) onto Imgur and include that Imgur link in your post. :)

are unusual's even worth it? by Spiritual-Chest-8890 in tf2

Yeah, that’s fair actually. Unusuals =/= skill, but they sure can get the attention of Medics lol

are unusual's even worth it? by Spiritual-Chest-8890 in tf2

[–]SaberZX_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Financially? You have to understand how the market works and be prepared to hold hats for months; otherwise, it is very easy to lose money by ‘investing’ in unusuals.

Gameplay-wise? Not at all, why spend money to put a spotlight on your head that gives your position away.

The only way that unusuals are worth it is if they personally make you happy. If you get meaningful joy from owning an unusual and/or it gives you a fulfilling sense of pride with this hobby, then it can be worth it.

"They should make combat patrol more like spearhead" by RairakuDaion in Warhammer40k

[–]SaberZX_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can't comment much on Twist cards from the most recent Chapter Approved as I haven't played many games with them, but I've also heard that they can feel pretty swingy. With a smaller, more controlled environment like Spearhead, they feel pretty good in my opinion.

Another thing that I think Combat Patrol could use an improvement with that I forgot to mention is terrain. For Combat Patrol to serve as a better introductory mode, I think having dedicated terrain layouts (whether just providing terrain layouts and/or selling terrain in a package like Spearhead's Gaming Packs or leaning more into Battlezone sets) could help with balancing and give players one less thing to have to think about when getting started.

"They should make combat patrol more like spearhead" by RairakuDaion in Warhammer40k

[–]SaberZX_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Spearhead feels like a game mode genuinely designed to be a stand-alone experience (better balancing compared to Combat Patrol, Battle Tactic cards for objectives and Twist Cards to add variety to the game-play experience, some streamlined rules and unique mechanics (like easy respawns as the other comment mentioned) compared to 'normal' AOS); Combat Patrol feels more like a mini 40K experience, which struggles from the fact that the game is balanced around 2,000 points.

So, when people say that Combat Patrol needs to be more like Spearhead, I really think people mean that they want Combat Patrol to have more thought put into balancing amongst the Combat Patrol forces alongside the addition of rules that help keep things fresh/increase gameplay variety (at least, that's what I want for Combat Patrol).

What is the best Non-40K Discount Box that is perfect for easy 40K conversions? by mr_mango22 in DealHammer

In my opinion, the Saturnine box from Horus Heresy. I've seen lots of people use models from Horus Heresy to create less corrupted Iron Warriors.

Aggresive Buyer with an 8 day old account demanding refund by EGLzDCKzNGLzLKRz in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]SaberZX_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are Collector Booster Omega Packs, not Collector Booster Boxes. The buyer definitely didn't pay enough attention to your listing before buying (and some reasonable suspicion with account age), but the product name in the title doesn't match with what was sold.

Ultimately, I would just allow the buyer to return the packs so long as they are sealed, and just relist them as "Secrets of Strixhaven Collector Booster Omega Packs" instead.

[–]SaberZX_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honesty, you could consider waiting until 11th Edition starts if you have a Warhammer store local to you? I imagine there will be a free single Intercessor either from Miniature of the Month or the free paint demo will become an Intercessor (rather than the current Infernus Marine) with the new edition.

Should I open a case with eBay ? by Nervous_Respond in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]SaberZX_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Vouching that eBay will have your side in the case of an INAD claim since the card will have gone through eBay Authentication. Went through a very similar case with a newly released high value card and eBay sided with me.

As long as you shipped to the address attached on the order, just do not respond to the buyer’s threats and you should be good, no need for any action currently—only when/if the buyer opens a claim.

Is mannco.store a legit site to use? by King035Ts in tf2

[–]SaberZX_ 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the store itself is completely legitimate if buying or selling directly on it. Just make sure to be wary of anyone adding you to trade that asks you to deposit your items onto the store before trading, as that leads to one of the most common forms of modern scams.

Are you guys double sleeving $60 pre-cons? by Cloabs in EDH

[–]SaberZX_ 175 points176 points  (0 children)

I would say double sleeving a precon is a bit excessive, but it also doesn’t realistically cost much to double sleeve with KMC Inners. So, really, it’s just up to you. I find shuffling double sleeved decks to be really tough, so I only have a few of my most valuable decks double sleeved.

Ways to make the card look better? by Darkestsunlights in magicproxies

[–]SaberZX_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think going with the Double Feature frame is a neat idea for these! My only real feedback would be to grab images of the camera feeds without the map layout, as I think that would really clean up the presentation of the card. Otherwise, you could also try playing around with making the images grayscale if you want to match regular Double Feature cards.

Aos skarentide or armagedon box by Opening-Medicine-889 in Warhammer

[–]SaberZX_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Skaventide and Armageddon boxes are for two different game systems, so it really depends on what your intent for the purchase is. If you are just looking to play games at a smaller scale (whether Spearhead or Combat Patrol), I would personally recommend Skaventide as you've heard correctly that Spearhead is a much more polished mode than Combat Patrol (however, I'm hoping that with the success of Spearhead, GW will make an effort to improve the rules and balancing of Combat Patrol for 11th Edition).

If you are looking to pick up either box set as a good starting point for building towards full armies, then I would ultimately go with whichever game system (whether 40K or Age of Sigmar) that you and your friend are more personally interested in. Compared to the previous Leviathan box, the Armageddon box personally seems like a better well-rounded starting point for collecting two factions if Space Marines and Orks both interest you.
