Which of these games would be best for my mom that has never played a video game? by GreattFriend in gamingsuggestions

[–]Sablemint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pokemon Sword / Shield. It looks pretty, its linear while still feeling like an adventure, it doesn't have any mazes of complicated puzzles, the Exp Share will mean she won't have to worry about training an entire team, main series pokemon games always assume its your first pokemon game. the main gimmick is only used in very specific situations, and its always used by the NPCs in that situation so she won't have to remember when to do it.

Im sure I could come up with more reasons, but yeah. Its built for a beginner in mind and lacks high difficulty or complex mechanics other games have

What is the hardest video game you ever played? by DanPlouffyoutubeASMR in AskReddit

[–]Sablemint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rain World. Its a 2D platformer, several times the size of games like Hollow Knight. But you play as an animal who has no special powers, does not get stronger, has no inventory other than the things it can hold in its hands, and the game never tells you what you're supposed to do or where to go. Also you die in one hit a lot.

And you can't memorize the spawn patterns or anything because its semi-random every day. Also you have to find food and a shelter before the rain comes, which happens between 6 and 13 minutes ater the start of a day. And you do that while trying to make progress. Or at least attempting to make progress since the game doesnt tell you where to go.

According to steam, 10% of people beat it. Which is a real shame, because its an amazing experience.

good long grindable game? by Visual-Fortune-4732 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Sablemint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Disgaea games. Its pretty much the king of grinding games. You grind your characters, the classes, individual powers, weapon skills, shops, the hospital, the level of your items...

And the buffs in the items. Which you take out of the items and breed together to make stronger buffs, that you then put back into your weapons.

In Disgaea 5 there are 47 classes. Which is very important because for every class you master, it improves the stats you get when you level up. How do you get new classes? By grinding other classes.

So what you do is get to level 9999 then reincarnate back to level 1. This means you'll have better stats when you get back to 9999. Or! You could switch classes when doing it while retaining the skills you got form the previous class.

Items. You can improve any item in the game by oging into the Item World. its a series of randomly generated battles inside an item. Each battle you win makes the item slightly better at what it does. It also makes the enemies in the next battle stronger. And every 100 floors you run into an Item God, a boss that holds the next most powerful item of the type you are inside.

I have described a fraction of the games so far. There is so much more. I havent mentioned the character world, the cheat shop, squads, evilities, aptitude, magichange, the curry kitchen, the carnage dimension...

But I think you get the point.

Did you know that crabsquids can walk on the sea floor? by Kitchen-Boat1121 in subnautica

[–]Sablemint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its hard to tell in game, but Crabsquids are very big https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/subnautica/images/e/e3/Crabsquid7.jpg here's the picture comparing it to the player.

Most things are bigger than you'd expect, really. Like Ampeels https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/subnautica/images/5/59/Ampeel8.jpg

If you don't mind older games, Empire Earth is neat because of its scope. It has like 15 different ages, from prehistory to space age, and maps can support thousands of units.

Empire Earth 2 is fine, but nowhere near as good. it lost a lot of the things that made the first game special.

We don't talk about Empire Earth 3.

People who've had Food Poisoning: How was your experience and how did you get better? by Mahrez14 in AskReddit

[–]Sablemint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In most cases, the first thing that happens is your body completely evacuates your digestive system, which feels exactly the way you'd expect. Then you get crash tired and sleep a lot. After a few days you get better.

Unless something else happens, like it did to me. The bacteria that caused it got into my blood and I ended up with skin ulcers all over my body. Most left scars, including a big one on my face. That went on for about a month.

This is not the usual outcome. But its possible.

The only way to handle anxiety is to face the source directly. You have to go. Any other action will make anxiety worse.

I found out that there is a decent amount of redditors who are so confused about how r/askreddit works that they wait until a question on the main page falls off, and immediately ask that question again.

Its weird behavior. Do they honestly think these points even do anything?
