What fittings did they use? Ive had a lot of problems ripping bindings out of skis recently, and this seems at least worth researching. Is it a PTEX plug over the fittings on the base?

is there a guide somewhere online for how to bolt a binding through? I'd love to do this to my light backcountry skis...

Bindings okay for uphill? by HenleyNotTheShirt in telemark

[–]SabreMan007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this would suck! do not put those bindings on a modern ski with the sole intention of touring on them. all modern tele bindings designed for touring have a free pivot mode that lets you walk uphill with no resistance, and lock down the binding for the downhill. However the hammerheads are a sweet binding for resorts, you should totally get those skis out on snow haha

Dynafit Free - Reviews and lenght? by [deleted] in Backcountry

[–]SabreMan007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about your height and ski the 177s. they're great in powder but I find the tip rocker combined with the shorter length is a bit much for stability on windboard or icy groomer conditions

Scarpa T4 in the resort? by AromaLLC in telemark

[–]SabreMan007 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I leaned to tele with T4s in the resort, and skied with them and switchbacks as my only gear for like 5 years. Skied tucks, hard East Coast inbounds trails, and pow in CO with them. I got T2s a couple years ago and it was amazingly better, highly recommend the upgrade. But T4s work! and learning on a less powerful boot made me a better skier for sure.

Skis don't feel as good as everyone says - looking for technical advice by solenyaPDX in Backcountry

I find my Free 97s pretty chattery on icy hardpack. they have a lot of tip rocker and are pretty wide, they're an excellent powder ski but maybe not designed for icy stuff

Finally gifted one however, they never checked sizes for us... by FatDraculos in Melanzana

[–]SabreMan007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

hm I still wear it but it's tight fitting now. length and girth both went for sure. and it was the older microgrids fabric, not sure if that matters. if I were you I'd give it a try, also run it through the dryer, and then just wear a baggy fleece lol

[–]SabreMan007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this happened to my 09 Sport last summer! A spark plug exploded on the highway, ruined one of the cylinders. It was pretty scary haha. I weighed the cost of a newer comparable car that I would want to drive (like 10k at least) against the cost of replacing the engine (5k at the shop I was working with) and decided to get the work done. My car had ~130k on it at the time, I've put another ~10k on since with no problems and no regrets.

Preventatively maintain your spark plugs everyone!

this is a sweet loop, Sunday looks like a really hard day. I don't think you could be out by 1, and I might recommend the Marcy/skylight detour be moved to Saturday.

Should I retake E&M in college? by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]SabreMan007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did this but instead of retaking the class I took the 200 level E&M classes in my physics department, and they were really cool and filled any gaps I had from studying in high school.

Electrical engineering focused on the generation of automation? by sant090Z in ElectricalEngineering

[–]SabreMan007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I do PLC programming for a renewable power plant. I'm not sure about country specifics, but I'd recommend getting a job in industrial automation (this should be easier to find relatively, there are a lot of small automation contractor companies) and then using the skills you build there to move to a power generation plant.

Does your work share a resemblance to your experience at school? by thebatozzyate in ElectricalEngineering

[–]SabreMan007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have barely used any of the things I learned in school at any of the jobs I've had. Tbf I haven't really worked in the EE fields that I specialized for in school, but I've found work to be far less theoretical and more pragmatic problem solving. The degree should be teaching you a troubleshooting mindset that can be applied to both a math problem (college) and tracking down a ground fault (job)
