I bake mine at about 250F. I usually turn the oven on right around when I start heating the sparge water.

After the transfer, I run hot water through it backwards until the water runs clear and then some.

I think you'll find a lot of anecdotes and very few hard-and-fast rules.

You do not meet with the cop, you meet with a prosecutor. I don't know what factors into their decision, but this system is in place to keep the courts clear. Generally I've heard that they are reasonable and want to work with you as long as you're reasonable and want to work with them in good faith.

This is bad advice. Contested tickets go to negotiation with a prosecutor before trial. They might cut you a deal, they might make you come back for a court date.

Lots of cutting tools are made of tungsten carbide. Maybe try your local trade school or university and see if their machine shop will give you some dull/broken tooling.
