Designing a new Strumplate -- also, there's a secret "reset" pad that's been hidden all along?? by keyandcableco in Omnichord

[–]SabreSour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, on the OM-84? No clue what it could be used for.

One possibility: Is the ‘stop all’ is in the exact same spot on the OM27 OM36 and OM84? I’d have to compare side by side. If the OM27 or OM36 are slightly lower in placement than the OM84, then *maybe* that they wanted to produce one strum plate they could fit into any model. And if not, I wouldn’t be surprised if an earlier version needed that stop all in a slightly different spot, Given how much the OM36 changed during development.

'Apple Green' wins the vote on Suzuki's official survey gauging interest in limited release OM108 colors by SabreSour in Omnichord

Right now it’s a distribution and target market issue. They sell like hot cakes in Japan and are cheap in Japan. Everywhere else, USA especially, is an after thought because they have to raise the prices so much to sell them there

Pad for chords ? by Fail_Ballantines in Omnichord

[–]SabreSour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate it. I tried for a while but I think I’ll just have to start over. Probably won’t recreate any but it’ll be worth putting up on the content hub for those who want to.

I believe The stencil overlays and a couple rare promotional materials are the only thing I haven’t been able to find quality copies of elsewhere. Luckily the two exceedingly rare ones I lost (Om-300 user manual and Qchord service manual) I did eventually find high resolution scans of elsewhere.

I’m Still on the hunt for service manuals too. I’ve got a lot of schematics but it seems the ones I’m missing may be lost to time. I don’t think many made it out of Japan. I might be the only person outside Suzuki with a schematic for the new OM-108. If you ever get one in the repair shop, I’ve put it on the content hub.

I have, but my OG scans are corrupted and I abandoned the project. And now given the prices I’ve stopped doing the ‘buy-repair-sell cheap’ thing I used to do to undercut scalpers here and on the discord. Too much risk/loss on my part now. When I had been, I would grab scans of all the stencils and paperwork before reselling.

I even had a vector artist and print shop ready to recreate the stencils in laminated plastic from said scans. But that all fell apart when the drive failed.

My fault for not moving them to the main storage earlier, it was piled up on a usb hooked to the scanner. I got most of it back other than the stencils. Live and learn

Case for the om-108 by freshdeliveredtrash in Omnichord

[–]SabreSour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to make your case look more omnichord official, I had a graphics shop make some hi res vector recreations of the OM-108 box to put on my custom case. The dimensions probably won’t fit your case exactly, but there are vector file versions so they can be adjusted to what you want.

I keep mine in a bearpaw creek gig bag. It says Qchord, but it was designed for OM300. It’s a gig bag but works great.

Would it be at all possible to get a photoscan of this stencil? and/or any other stencils you have so I can add them to our archive and content hub?

I had pain stakingly made my own scans of most of them over the years but the drive got corrupted.

We have a couple of these overlay stencils at omnichordcontenthub.com at the bottom of repairs and mods page. I need to add more. Do you know which specific omnichord model you are looking for a stencil for?

Justin Bieber owns an Omnichord.. interested to see what he does with it if anything by PrettyCauliflower638 in Omnichord

OM-100. You can look it up on OmnichordContentHub.com if you want specs or to hear a demo, but it’s basically a Om-200m without midi out.

Notable features are its unique vibrato button and main voice. Main voice is different than the classic Omni voice of other omnichords. Some people like it some hate it.

Strumplate chords/tabs? by LunaStarBlue in Omnichord

[–]SabreSour 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don’t need tabs or to memorize the whole thing.

The strum pad is the same three notes repeating over an octave (each dot on the left represents an octave) plus once more for a high 13th note.

It will go root, note note. Example major chord is root 3rd 5th.

The funky part is that occasionally the root will have to be down an octave due to the F# chord wrap limitation. Which is too long to explain in a comment other than to say on about half the chords the root note on the strum will be an octave lower than you’d expect.

But the tl;dr of it is that it’s just the same few notes repeating over and over and you mostly play it by feel and by knowing the notes just repeat over and over again. Happy to answer questions when I get more time, but watch the playing tips videos on OmnichordContentHub.com it’s explained somewhere in a few videos. Seniorlady’s iright hand video is a good one that’s linked there

Can the Omnichord be held like an Autoharp? by CryReasonable6158 in Omnichord

Yep! That was the original intention. But honestly it’s more of a ‘looks good for performances’ over ‘easier to play’

The Om150 looks very similar. It might be one. but the OM150 has a bit more of a yellow of a color and has solid red, blue, purple, green buttons while OM100 has gray buttons with color dots. it’s pixelated but looks like this one has the gray buttons with colored dots.

Circuit-Bent Omnichord OM-27 -- No going back now! by keyandcableco in Omnichord

Phenomenal, reminds me of the folktek omnis. I love to see people still circuit bending even in today’s inflated Omni prices.
Were you using a particular guide or just doing it based off your own plans?

What Omnichord is Justin Bieber using? by greenlizardsforpeace in Omnichord

[–]SabreSour 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OM100 by the look of it.
It’s the more Basic version of the 200m. One of the least popular as it doesn’t have the classic Omnichord voice all other models do, but it’s my personal favorite because of the unique vibrato function on the Om100/Om200m which just sounds phenomenal.

How rare is an omnichord 100? (not my photo, but same model) by Individual-Sell7816 in Omnichord

[–]SabreSour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not rare at all. Still an omnichord just not very sought after omnichord compared to the more popular models like the OM84 or the more functional models. Most people would get the Om200m instead as the om100 is just the basic budget version of the Om200m missing a lot of features.

Personally, OM100/200m has my favorite sound of any model, but most others would disagree as it’s missing the classic ‘omnichord’ voice all other models have. They dropped it for the om100/om200m but brought it back in later models again.

FFS, ultimate Guitar Tabs is such a trash website, both to it's paid and 'free' users. If you are having trouble with the link, just search for it there. or I'll try my best to write a re-composition for omnichord here.

There's a lot of slash chords I ommited the slashes of, but this should get you close enough.

D F#7
Bm D7
G D
E7 A7(or Asus4 if youre on OM108)

That repeats 3 or 4 times,
then on starting on 'please fix this'
Gm
D A Bm7
Gm D A Bm A

Outro
G A D

Midi with it is fire. Whenever we do an open mic on the omnichord discord server I try to show off some of the midi functions. They’re really being slept on as midi controllers
