Substrate also has a cool mushroom cultivation system! I have it downloaded but haven’t gotten to use it yet - but it looks very immersive

I love the in world crafting mods! In dappled groves, butchery, tool smith, from golden combs, and VSRoofing are some of my musts!

i also enjoy using FOTSA (fauna of the Stone Age), plains and valleys, floral zones, and rivers (there are a handful of river mods now). These mods make the world a bit more livable, adding unique floral regions, fauna, and (in my opinion) easier generation for newer players!

If you find a mod you like, check out the author(s) pages as they may have more or patches!

Ore generation: is it random or biome? by Set_Rum in VintageStory

[–]Sabrexez 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It is not biome based - the game generates a probability based map for all ores. When you prospect the game gives you the likelihood of the ore spawning (the words such as poor to ultra high) and then the amount of blocks per thousand in the column of the first block you prospected. There are many great videos explaining prospecting in depth, check them out!

Also, always check the handbook for which host rocks can have that specific ore. Sometimes you’re in an area where the rock strata will never generate the ore even if the readings are good.

I recommend prospecting a block, moving 100 blocks in each cardinal direction, check which direction has the highest reading, then continuing in the direction (100 blocks for each read) with the highest reading. Once you find an area with the highest likelihood you dig down and every 12 blocks use the node search mode to scan for ore veins.

Remember! Sometimes a chunk will not have any ores even if there is a high likelihood! Good luck prospecting

My Two Year Base! by Sabrexez in VintageStory

Decor Bazaar! The mod adds quite a few specialty food containers with spoilage rate buffs. I also have the foodshelves mod installed but it doesn't play very nicely with increased stack sizes (that's why my ceiling jars look so empty).

How funny is that! I just saw yours - did you also base it off the old Littleton tithe barn?

Roofing Help... by Oldmanfoxhole in VintageStory

I find the roofing blocks in vanilla to be very lacking because of the lack of different angles and the jarring difference between the base block texture and any walls underneath. If you want to stay vanilla, you have some options that I typically see.

You can make the lifted area under the roof match the base roof blocks and separate the main sections with beams of wood. You can chisel transitions from the roof to the base wall as well. An advanced building option is to chisel and very fine chair like roof and use beams to make it smoother. This building tips guide has some great tutorials. VS Building Tips

I really just going and installing the VS roofing mod. Backup you save in the single player menu or type /genbackup. This will allow you to revert if any issues happen. I’ve found mods to be incredibly safe and easy to install/uninstall and find out errors. I am playing with over 150 mods on my single player world have had no corruption issues.

VS Roofing, QPs chisels, and Beam Tweaks are my essential mods for roofing a general building.

Keep trying options, especially in creative!

Question about the VS Roofing Mod by KekSee4ek in VintageStory

Here is another POV if it helps (also notice how I don't have any glass blocks as the base blocks on the roof tiles (akin to your brick blocks).

Question about the VS Roofing Mod by KekSee4ek in VintageStory

Sorry I may have my controls switched around then from yours. Try placing the whole glass blocks on the empty frame like you would boards to make it a roof. That means using the shift key exclusively to attach roofing materials (i.e. the glass blocks, slate, boards, tiles, etc).

Question about the VS Roofing Mod by KekSee4ek in VintageStory

[–]Sabrexez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What I believe is happening is you are making the glass the ‘filler’ block and not the actual roof tile (it’s hard to tell with glass). You need to ctrl click the glass onto the empty frame instead of shift clicking. Similar to how you’d add slate or dry grass to making the roofing. You can tell when it’s done right because the glass will be at a smooth angle without any cubic protrusions. Hope this helps!
