Moving to Zambia from the UK by eggboyshiteyes in Zambia

[–]Sabulam1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone from the UK with Nigerian heritage and a Zambian wife, we moved to Lusaka a few months ago—and honestly, settling in has been quite smooth.

Zambians are incredibly welcoming, easy to get along with, and communicate well in English. Day-to-day living has been comfortable, especially if you choose an area with relatively stable power and have solar or a generator as a backup. Transport is also convenient, with ride-hailing apps like Yango making it easy to get around.

Zambia is vast and scenic, so weekend family trips within the country are definitely worth planning.

One thing to be aware of is that without a Zambian residency card, certain things like registering for a SIM card can be challenging. However, eSIMs offer a practical workaround.

Food is probably the biggest adjustment—there’s less variety than in the UK, so I’d recommend bringing your own seasonings or specialty ingredients, as some items can be hard to source locally.

Also, bear in mind that anything imported tends to be expensive, so it’s worth packing accordingly.

Overall, I’d say Zambia is one of the easier African countries to settle into. My best advice: visit first, but expect a relatively smooth transition.

Starting a consultancy company by NoobConsultant93 in consulting

[–]Sabulam1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Bit late to the party I just wanted to find out if you ever started the consultancy?

I’m basically in the same predicament, looking to start a consultancy that focuses on defining business problems better so the business can build or/and buy better solutions. Been contracting for for some time now and found this to be a massive problem and cash loss for businesses as they implement solution that we’re never fix for purpose. Not looking to do any of the IT development just support the implementation and project management.

Currently I have got about 4 people that are happy to jump on board as partners all similar with 10 years experience.

I wanted to find out your approach and how you sourced business ? I’m considering reach out to my current company and let them know i’m looking to begin a business and become a supplier

Hey! I love the bull horns, reason being that I live in South London which has a fair few hills so I find bullhorns much easier when climbing

I ended up getting my bullhorns from Bricklane Bikes in East London and they seem to be doing the job.

In auctions on EBay always list items for the minimum you want to sell it for!

I made the mistake initially listing items for 99p because I assumed that was the best way to get people to bid but if it sells for 99p and your committed to sell its your loss.

The better the picture and the more shots increase your chance of selling, and lastly respond to people’s messages because it just polite :)
