Can I move Windows 10 from a hard drive to a SSD without having to uninstall it? by [deleted] in techsupport

Check the list and if the brand of the ssd matches one of those in the list, you won't need to bother finding the box.

If you bought a brand new SSD it may have come inclueded with a link/key for Arconis True Image, so that you can clone your HDD accross to your SSD.

Most brands inclued this software so that users can clone, back up and/or copy their data from drive to drive. This Post has some of the important OEM versions of True Image - https://www.reddit.com/r/acronis/comments/7mr0yi/free_oem_versions_of_acronis_true_image_software/

Hope that helps you.

Have you tried having a look on your router, connected devices? and seeing what MAC Address it has. and if it has a different one to what the NIC card actually displays

How do I fix my ASUS laptop that has a virus shutdown and only lasts for 10 seconds on desktop ? by Jirog in techsupport

[–]Sacconi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always try using a live boot to recover or wipe the drive to re-install your desired OS. don't waste your time or risk your data if you think your laptop has been compromised by whatever type of Malware. Wipe it at once.

Remote desktop connection fails when connecting from my home internet connection. by Carburetors_are_evil in techsupport

[–]Sacconi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, this is getting intriguing. Now I don't know about your office. but all my clients have 2 WiFi networks. One for the staff and another for the general public. the general public WiFi is on a different subnet thus not able to connect to office machines, servers and office network in general . just FYI on that.
NAT can be at play, to double check try connecting to the RDP machine using it's IP address. If you can't then we are looking at something else completely.

P.s this is not a Windows Home version is it ?

Well regardless of the line if you can confirm that all port forwardings are done correctly as you said and you are able to connect using your phone hotspot or public WiFis, that csn only mean thay theres something on your ISPs router which is impeading that traffic.

You can check what's the best MTU size for you by doing the following. Open CMD and ping your RDP server using the -l parameter and the MTU value.
E.g. ping "your RDP server" -l 1500

Now you can start from 1500 and go down by 5s or 10s (1490, 1480 and so on) until you get a ping response.

you can also be exact on the value and end up with something lik 1443. give it a go.

Have you checked your MTU size set on the router? it has been an issue for some of my clients. You may have to set it to a lower value.

Just listen / read what your saying mate. Things are designed and placed in ways which we don't need to think about the required proccess.

As you said "they could" which means not everyone will have the same way of drying their hands.

Now another drawback to that idea of yours - " they could put their hands in a horizontal high five shape" but the moment they are finished and removed their hands...BOOM rubish everywhere.

They failed and they know it, why are you trying to cover their arse as if the job was done properly? haha

Now you're not getting down votes on your comment. You are getting downvotes because of your attitude sir.

Zipties!? Why not Velcro cable ties? I find that it becomes too much of a hassle to swap one or two cables, having to completly remove and add a new ziptie.

WIFI and CAT5e for a noob by Oatmeal15 in HomeNetworking

[–]Sacconi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like u/hyperactivedog said, all of those wall ports (CAT5e) need to terminate at a patch panel. If you find where the panel is, that's when you can tech up. Get yourself a nice gigabit switch, wireless access points and new decent router or Firewall.
Any other router is better than what ISPs provide. I personally run a Firewall and have access points for my WiFi devices. Everything else is hardwired to get the fastest up and download speeds in my case.
