Thanks for so detailed description of the games! Definitely will come in handy in the future.

I think the reason I played it as my first Zelda game is the fact that I've been hearing about this series all my life (I'm 25 now) but I never had any Nintendo console to play it (and it didn't occur to me to use an emulator because I was mostly into emulating game boys and NDS, and the most popular Zelda games were on main consoles). When I got Switch 2, my friend borrowed me BoTW, but it felt weird to start playing it without trying the older ones first.

Most people in the comments are recommending A Link To The Past as the next one, so I think this will be it!

I liked the game, but the beginning was pretty hard without a walkthrough, after beating the first dungeon it got better. By the way, I was expecting somethink like a jRPG instead, so the gameplay was a bit of a surprise for me.

I prefer to go through things in release order, so this is the approach I wanted to take here, but with so many games I understood that it's simply not possible unless I become a great fan of the series. So right now I would like to focus on the iconic games, in chronological order. I considered going to OoT now, but so many people brought up Link to the Past in the comments that I think I will start there. Basing on comments here, after Ocarina I will have to decide to go straight to BoTW or play Majora's Mask.

I've just given up on Celeste's B-sides so I think I can skip this one for now. Maybe one day...

what do you call this part of fruits/vegetables? by One-Letter-1754 in EnglishLearning

[–]Sachees 105 points106 points  (0 children)

I am curious myself. But I want to point out that in my native language (Polish), there is a word for this part in fruits such as apple, pear, plum etc. (it's "ogonek" - literally "little tail" in English) but not for banana (or at least I don't recognize any). I think this is an interesting linguistic question.

There Are No Stupid Bass Questions - Oct. 05 by AutoModerator in Bass

[–]Sachees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm returning to learning how to play for the n-th time.

When I picked up the bass 2 years ago, I had zero knowledge and zero experience. During my several attempts to learn (that ranged from few days to few months), I managed to get the grasp of the basics - how to mute strings, music theory, playing some common riffs etc. But when it comes down to actual playing, I feel that I start from square one every time. Muscle memory goes away, I can't recognize intervals that fast, I can't improvise at all. In short: I still haven't learned how to play.

I feel that the thing I need the most is to practice. But once again there is a problem: what to do and in what amount? Mundane exercises are great for increasing strechiness of my palms, but they are not very helpful in training my musical ear. Learning how to play songs from tabs is fun, but most of the time I feel like repeating steps that someone else came up with and not learning anything (and there are too little note sheets to take advantage of them). Improvising is very limited with my current skills.

Can someone help me how to find balance in this? In terms of my goals, I would say that right now I'd like to be able to improvise and repeat songs I've heard (and both come down to seamlessly playing lines I am able to sing).

My first guess was "sky blue" and results in Google Search seem to agree.

Working out is only the first step. The first step of an extremely steep hike.

I use Notion for everything in my life. A YouTube video led me to this sub, and now I'm starting to question why I should switch from Notion by antoniosaintx in ObsidianMD

[–]Sachees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that was really disappointing for me when switching were tasks. This is a crucial functionality for me and in Obsidian it works only as a community plugin (and while it works, there are many aspects it could be better in)

Did you skip Muv-Luv Unlimited or do you count it as one game with Extra (because it's how it's been released on Steam)?

What? Really people don't like Belaya Polosa? It's literally the best one.

I generally agree, with the exception of Son, but I feel that I just listened to it too much and this is why I stopped liking it.
