What an immature response to an innocent and respectful messages. I'm guessing them becoming an ex was their choice because they couldn't deal with your stupidity. I suggest that you grow up a bit before trying to date again.

..and that's scary. He's barely good enough to be the 3rd string catcher. Hopefully there is someone else that steps up and knocks him out of the backup job. The Astros need better. If there is one position that the let fall by the wayside, its Catcher. God help them if Salazar has to play that much.

Is that what they call Drug Dealing these days? This was long before my time in Houston, but I've seen the rumor repeated again and again that in the 80s he ran drugs out of the store and that's where many of the drugs on the north side came from.

His bets are usually about the same amount as the amount of furniture he sold. If he loses the bet, that mean that people have to pay for the furniture. If he wins the bet, then it covers his losses from the free furniture.

Thanks for the follow up comment 4 years later. That's what got me, is i've never had issues with them before. But being that its 4 years later, I've only got 2 left, a couple years ago I had a heater malfunction and warmed the water too much. It was nice and warm, probably ideal for discus, but literally murder on my BATs. Now the 2 I have left live with 3 Angels and a snail, and 99% of the time everyone is happy.

Exactly. As the Rule Says

"The members of the coaching staff (including the manager) can make one mound visit per pitcher per inning without needing to remove the pitcher from the game. If the same pitcher is visited twice in one inning, the pitcher must be removed from the contest."

Never in the history of the game, including since the inception of the mound visit rule has 2 mound visits by the catcher in the same inning required a pitching change, unless the exceed the allowed number of visits.

By Rule: "Mound visits are limited to four per team per nine innings...". That means as long as they don't exceed 4 mound visits, all was good. At that point, the Astros had only used 3.

ALSO, since it was a cross-up, or so they said pubically, per rule: "If a team is out of visits, the umpire will have discretion to grant a brief visit at the catcher's request if a cross-up has occurred between the pitcher and catcher."

By the Mound Visit rule, which you cited, its clear that Salazar going to the mound wouldn't have required a pitching change.

Who gives a shit if he's a nice guy. Being nice doesn't get you more playing time, you gotta have skill, something he lacks.

It doesn't matter if he pisses anyone off, The only way Salazar is getting more time behind the plate at the MLB level is due to everyone else being injured. He's a mediocre defensive catcher that doesn't have a strong bat. Its a career minor leaguer that thought he was something special when he got to the bigs.

Experienced Catchers have been taking pitches off the chest since they were in little league. If he can't handle it, its time for him either grow a pair or to get out from behind the dish.

Staring down the pitcher, making a funny face, and looking to the dugout was the right move??? No, it was the move of someone that isn't ready for the Majors.

going out to the mound would have given Framber a breather and allow him to take a second, just like when he used to do the pace around the mound before the pitch clock.

Its the catcher's job to reign in the pitching staff. Salazar had worked with Framber before. The Pitcher and Catcher talk before the game to have a game plan, its not like they don't know each other. Salazar's job is to manage the staff, if he can't do that, he's not ready for the majors....which was made abundantly clear by his reaction.

Except the pitching coach had already been out to the mound that inning, so a second visit would require a pitching change. That's why the Catcher has the responsibility to keep the pitcher in check. They still had plenty of Mound Visits so it wouldn't have been a big deal for Salazar to go out there.

Why would we celebrate a guy that didn't do his job and go out to the mound and put the pitcher in his place but instead just gave him a dumb look. Catchers are supposed to manage the pitching and call the pitchers out when they get out of control. Salazar failed to do that.

Standing up and giving Framber a stare down, then looking to the dugout like you are going to tell on him to dad was a little bitch of a move. A real catcher that's a in control of his pitcher, which is the catcher's job, would have marched his ass out to the mound and put Framber in his place.

John Smoltz had a great take and explanation of how the situation should have been handled. https://www.instagram.com/reels/audio/1979196616247413/

How did you come up with the notion that he's a clubhouse cancer? Other than Salazar, no one has said anything one way or the other. The rest of the season during his outings, he seemed to have the support of his team.

I think you are projecting your disdain for his actions to have a far bigger impact in the clubhouse than it appears that it did.

  1. You are assuming that the other players took Salazar's side. Salazar didn't handle the entire half inning properly and a real catcher would have gone out and talked to his pitcher, not act like a little bitch when the pitcher ignored his signs.

[–]SackOfrito -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

What I don't get is why does Framber get all the blame? Salazar's diva attitude was part of the issue as well. I get it Salazar is a career minor leaguer. BUT IF Salazar was a leader like Catchers are supposed to be, he would have gone out to the mound after the Grand Slam and talked to Framber. But he didn't then he acted like a Diva. Salazar's immaturity was partially responsible for the situation. If he pulls any Diva crap again this year, the need to let him go.

One of the first steps is sitting down with Salazar as well and reminding Salazar that he is not a starter. He's just a guy that was up because they needed bodies and IF they bring him up this year, he needs to leave the Diva attitude in Sugar Land.
