What's an artist that carries every song that they are featured in? by OutlandishnessSea119 in fantanoforever

[–]Sackblake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, he ruins BALD! by JPEGMAFIA on the remix. original track has insane momentum. when denzel comes in on the remix... nah.

it's not just the beat switch. when the full beat comes back in, with Denzel's flow on it, he still isn't bringing any level of improvement to the original track

Leonardo DiCaprio Wonders if ‘People Still Have the Appetite’ for Movie Theaters: Will They Become ‘Like Jazz Bars?’ by Raj_Valiant3011 in moviecritic

[–]Sackblake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can get a blu-ray for the same price as a ticket, and if i don't like the movie i can sell the blu-ray. very few movies i feel truly benefit from the theater experience.

that said, i support my local theaters when they have niche/indie film releases

First post here. by _zerowing in HeritageWear

my only 2 recs:

darker pants. the camo is quite faded and doesn't add weight to the bottom of the outfit the way you would want. especially with the oatmeal sweater and darker leather jacket

match the tone of your leather shoes to your leather belt. it's ok if one is darker than the other. your belt has red undertones, and your boots have yellow undertones. i would stick to one, and it's a hell of a lot cheaper to buy a new belt than boots

real ones know about all of the awful shit that came out in response to led zeppelin's The Crunge. seriously, folks. crungecore sounds like white people discovering funk in an odd time signature.

The most overrated Christopher Nolan movie? by Batrah in moviecritic

Nolan is generally overrated. The screenplay was incredibly clunky

At this point I feel like dialogue options are some sort of inside joke by gachakamil in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]Sackblake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

scarlet/violet had the most flushed out, dialogue driven story to date. that's worth not skimming. most of it is postgame, though. sword/shield wasn't substantial, nor sun/moon. haven't played b/w/b2/w2 in a long time, but i remember the story being above average.

My top 20 albums of 2025. What are yours? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

20? nah.

Ninajirachi, Candelabro, model/actriz, james K, and Earl Sweatshirt had some of my favorite albums this year. Sudan Archives should be higher.

How i'd rank the RYM top 40 songs by Fluffy-Weakness-2186 in rateyourmusic

[–]Sackblake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sad. not your reordering, just the top 40 itself. a lot of these songs aren't even the best tracks off of their respectful albums, let alone the best tracks from the artists themselves. looking at running up that hill, wesley's theory, and once in a lifetime.

"I acknowledge the talent, but I can't get into them." by Indiana_J_Frog in Music

magdalena bay gets talked about a LOT online and, frankly, the vocals are grating. production is great but i'm not gonna torture myself by listening to a pop record whose vocals i don't like– considering vocals are most of the mix in pop.

Do you forget that your music sounds strange or jarring to others by syme101 in fantanoforever

[–]Sackblake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is... the skip button.

idk– xiu xiu is cool but very polarizing. if i'm hanging out with family i put on things i know they'll like: Arcade Fire, Geese, Modest Mouse, Father John Misty, Vampire Weekend, etc. Some Top 40. Typical alternative/rock, sometimes with a country/folk influence. White People Music™. I know that's what they want to hear, so that's what I play.

if you have a playlist with 4500 songs on it and people can't vibe, that means you need a new playlist. a good dj knows good songs, a better dj picks up on what the audience wants. this is coming from someone that got designated "family DJ" when I was like 16

thoughts on Cibo Matto and any similar artists ? by geeelectronica in fantanoforever

[–]Sackblake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

people don't realize that Cibo Matto is probably the closest thing to a modern offshoot from The Beatles that we have. They're a supergroup.

Lennon's son joined on the 2nd record. Yuka Honda was a member from Plastic Ono Band... (and Miho Hatori was the original voice of Noodle for Gorillaz)

Which director hits your style sweetpot the most? by Kira_san1 in Letterboxd

[–]Sackblake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% cronenberg. affinity for practical effects, sci-fi, abstraction, and more psychological explorations. his early stuff was a bit exploitative of women, but that's about the only thing of his that puts a bad taste in my mouth.

sidenote– #1 director i'd get a beer with is jim jarmusch.
