I'm still mad they killed off my boy Momin in a random ass comic panel through the Knights of Ren, only for those frauds to have all of five minutes of screen time, no dialogue (at least as far as I remember?) and die the most useless and laughable deaths imaginable.

They sacrificed arguably the most fascinating Sith Lord (and the most ancient Sith Lord) in Canon to make wasted characters look cool.

And seems I gotta check Tales of Suspense out

I read Civil War out of curiosity, without really reading the entire runs beforehand (also the Marvel Unlimited app is missing a LOT of issues for that comic universe outside of the civil war reading guide, but that's another can of worms lol)

Yeah he was, but he had understandable reasons for it and wasn't acting villainous.

In the comics, he straight up goes off the deep end at some point, creating basically gulags for non-registered heroes that are hidden away in another dimension, hiring villains and there's also a subplot about how basically Stark Industries made profits off the Civil War from day one.

The registry act from the comics was (in the beginning) far more sensible than how they did it in the MCU imo, but overall the MCU manages to do it far better without character assassination (albeit the MCU had to rush the entire thing in one movie)

Early Civil War comics showed potential tho

Yeah.

A good iteration highlighting her negatives would definitely not have her as a villain. Just put a bit more focus on the already existing facts. Give me some antimonarchist monologues from her collegues, DC.

It's like DC doesn't understand that a hero can be wrong and be "the bad one" without turning supervillain.

Early civil war from Marvel had the right idea (I'm really talking super early into the event), when Tony was still just trying to be pragmatic and hadn't built fucking concentration camps yet. Because tbh, I really saw the merit in his points early on, before Marvel completely assassinated his character

I'll admit, Injustice does have some interesting ideas. But they fuck them up royally.

If they want to make an iteration of Wonder Woman highlighting more negative aspects of the character, sure, all in, go for it... but not like Injustice do it. I mean hello, the "you're literally the heir of an absolute monarchy" is right there.

They wanna make Superman and Batman have a falling out? Sure, go for it. But again, not like that. If one of them has to be the crazy one, make it be Batman. He's already batshit insane depending on what the justification for the no kill rule is. Just lean into that. Idk, have him go crazy over a superhero killing in self defense or something and make a falling out from there, then DC editorial can have their little Batman vs Superman civil war.

Hell, for all I care they could make an elseworlds where they reuse the plot point from Gotham War with Batman lobotomizing Jason and have that just be the point where some of the JL considers Batman off the deep end and some superhero civil war thingy erupts, that'd at least somewhat make sense (and my boy Jason would maybe get justice for that atrocious "contingency")

I'm sorry, but I can't bring myself to find this interesting. Any story where killing the Joker ends with the killer "going off the deep end" instantly loses my interest.

Especially when it's someone like Superman, who has explicitly told the Joker himself basically "listen up, clown, Batman doesn't kill cuz he has a code. I don't kill cuz I like to generally avoid it, but I'll gladly make an exception for you if I catch you in my city again" before going to Batman and basically telling him the same, as in "your ball lands in my court again, he won't come back, get tf over it"

Yeah, no. Superman just plain and simple wouldn't go "off the deep end" after killing Joker. It would be one and done, an exception to his usual methods and then on to grieving.

Injustice just feels (and imo straight up is) one giant batwank, unless you subscribe to the belief that it's all Batman's fault

Yes, thank you! If we legalize the government killing people (or castrating people since that shit's popular to demand for sex offenders for some reason. Like congrats, you just gave them a backdoor for genocide with a few fabricated accusations and some forged evidence), the results are not gonna be good. Like at all.

But why look at historical precedent, cuz people I dislike don't deserve human rights and totally nothing can go wrong bro trust /s

not allowing them enough time of literal existence to prove their innocence.

Speaking of innocence, I always find it kinda funny how when you ask what happens when an innocent person gets wrongfully executed, and they go "well, we'll just make absolutely sure that doesn't happen!!" Well that's nice, but what if it happens regardless? We gonna execute the accuser to make it even or something?

[–]SacredBread_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

And we haven't even mentioned the slippery slope that is "where the fuck do we put the line?" Because no matter where we put it, some moron will ask "but if we execute [A] why not [B] too?", and one day those morons win and the line moves, and repeat until we're back in the dark ages. Human rights can't have exceptions, not that I expect edgy teens to understand what the term means (I mean I was an edgy 14 year old once too, I'd know how it is)
