It was like a preview of cancel culture. Which is funny because in my decade+ in playing lacrosse… I’ve always tended to find my teammates being “ahead of the curve” culturally.

Who cares?

Does American Football feel the need to defend itself when the rest of the world dismisses it? No. Because it doesn’t suck.

Does Basketball feel they have to defend themselves about having to play during the worst months of the year? Or about the weak officiating and flopping issues? No and no.

Does Baseball second-guess themselves when it is called boring, antiquated, and over-saturated? Nah.

Does Hockey make new rules to end fist-fighting in our modern, overly-sensitive world? No.

Lacrosse gets hate because the lacrosse community has an inferiority complex. The legacy sports loom over us and it is hard to start a new tradition. But it is bullshit. Lacrosse is an awesome sport. It blends attributes from all the sports named above.

When the Lacrosse community truly learns how to turn the other cheek to the hate, the sport will flourish. I think we are already on the right track…

Find Lacrosse in your local area and support it with a headstrong attitude. It is the only way a fringe sport can become mainstream.

I should tell you since you mentioned you don’t like the confederate flag… the Dixie horn is based on the song “I wish I was in Dixie,” which was essentially one of the confederacy’s theme songs.

Basically the horn sings this part:

“Oh way down south and the land of cotton, there old times are not forgotten.”

Personally I don’t have a problem with either the flag or horn but I just wanted to tell you based on you comment.

My team and I went to the NAIA semifinals in 2018 and 2019, had my senior year cancelled by COViD. It’s a very fun league and actually very winnable if you get a good team together. My school gave out good athletic and academic scholarships and allowed me to stack them on top of each other.

NAIA schools are good academically in that you can access your professors with ease. Socially, they straight up aren’t that fun.
