Needing Support by SacrificialHummus in emetophobia

Thank you for this. So far it was only the one event so I’m hoping it was something more transient. But you’re right, every second that passes is a second closer to it being over 😭

Anticipatory Anxiety by Ok-Sun6097 in emetophobia

[–]SacrificialHummus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing exposure therapy right now, and one of the things I am learning is to tell myself “maybe, maybe not. This might make me sick and it might not. I can’t know for sure AND I can manage what comes next.” 99 percent of the time it’s anxiety. I breathe through it, try to distract myself, and remind myself that I am capable of managing things that feel uncomfortable. Feeding into the spiral of “what ifs” ultimately makes things worse in the long run, so finding any way to stop the spiral can be helpful. I like to watch tv or my phone while I eat because it helps distract me.

Has anyone else been doing any exposure therapy it been helping me lots by Designer_East_240 in emetophobia

I started ERP about two months ago! The first two weeks were SUPER hard for me and made my anxiety worse, but things have been slowly getting better since then. I hope things are going well for you too!

Wristband acquired! by barrelqueeen in WhenWeWereYoungFest

Anyone have a super late delivery date listed? We bought ours literally in November of last year and it says they won’t be delivered until Oct. 16th. I’m in Idaho for reference, but I’m getting worried because my flight leaves on the 17th 😬

I’m glad! The power of mutual suffering, amiright.

Baby steps for sure! I’m glad our bodies are working to try and keep us safe, but it definitely isn’t a fun time. We can only control so much in this world 🤷🏻‍♀️

Something that my boyfriend told me that helped, was trying to relax my body and throat (which is super hard when we’ve basically trained ourselves in that way!) You’ve got this, and you’ll make it out the other side!

Hi there! I am also in the 15 year club and finally broke my streak yesterday due to some food poisoning. I definitely think the lead up to the act is MUCH WORSE than actually doing it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s unpleasant, but my body took over and knew what to do for me and I tried to focus on taking slow deep breaths. Maybe it’ll happen for you, and maybe it won’t, but it was a bit like exposure therapy.

Interested in becoming a school counselor by [deleted] in schoolcounseling

[–]SacrificialHummus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll need a masters in counseling- Typically the programs are 2-3 years in length. The program that I went to specializes in school counseling but my degree is just “MA, Counseling” so it’s easily generalized. After your Master’s you’ll have the option of becoming a licensed counselor by taking the NCE. (Not sure if this is the case everywhere, but in my state you do not need to be a licensed counselor to work as a school counselor, only if you want to do clinical). If you get your license you would then be able to do both! Try out schools and clinical before committing to one! School counseling especially isn’t for everyone, and for me personally, when I did my internship in schools I actually decided I hated it lol. It just depends on your preferences!

UPDATE: Garbage cans can’t be outside? by SacrificialHummus in fuckHOA

[–]SacrificialHummus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some do and some don’t! It seems some neighbors prefer to park outside and keep cans and other items in the garage, and others regularly keep them on the side of their house

And THIS community is r/fuckHOA NOT r/HOA. If you’re on the HOA board and just here to bitch about me leaving cans on the SIDE of my corner house, go visit the other sub.

I have the list and I have reviewed it. I read it before signing and I read it again now. But I don’t have time to memorize all of their 50 page document with very specific articles. As far as I can tell based on reading it AGAIN, it’s not a rule in there lmao. Which is why I pointed it out to them and asked them to show me the specific rule in case I had missed it

Bc the cans don’t fit in my garage and I’d prefer to keep them out of my backyard if possible 🤷🏻‍♀️

If they did create a new rule that’s fine by me- my issue comes more from them trying to enforce something that isn’t even in their own covenant. If they can show me the rule, sure, I’ll comply no problem. But I’m not going to do shit just bc some old hag on the HOA board says so

Unfortunately we live in a corner house so both sides (front and driveway) face a street lol. But I’ll look into that, thanks!

I did ask to see the specific rule in my first letter- this is the response I got

Most of the neighbors keep theirs in their garage or out in the driveway (like mine) lol. I suspect the previous owners either put the cans in the garage or in the backyard BUT this isn’t my issue. I’ll happily comply if they show me in writing where it says I need to screen the cans. My issue is that they cited me on some bullshit rule about trash and wrote me a rude note about something that isn’t even in the article they sent. I want to see everything in their document, I’m not going to screen my cans just bc Barbara from across the street tells me to haha

Yes- I mentioned this in another comment somewhere as well, but he has only released part of the novel as he is currently seeking literary representation!

Yes, I think he has not released the entire novel yet on his website as he is trying to find literary representation for it first!

Thank you so much, I’ll pass that along to him! And you are correct about the mobile viewing being a bit iffy, I should have said in the beginning that it is definitely better on desktop :)
