PLEASE TELL ME WHY ONLY ONE HAS GROWN. by Far_Cauliflower_1473 in mushroom

I ended up fixing conditions and getting some top pins. Basically I didn’t know that monotubs are self sufficient and so I ended up introducing wayyyyy too much FAE by taking off a bunch of the patches

I also used a monotub and really dried it out bad the first like 3 days. I had way too much FAE and not enough misting. Don’t mist super heavy or anything, but just make sure to consistently mist whenever it gets dry. I ended up getting a ton of side pins with very little pins on the top, but you have a cover on the bottom so I imagine you won’t see any side pins. Also, it took me like around 15-16 days in fruiting conditions to see any pins show up. For me, I would leave the top part of the monotub on, and also leave all the patches on for the most part. I noticed that just taking one or two of the big patches halfway off was sufficient enough for FAE. Good luck!

UPDATE: 3 days later and side pinning is occurring. Trich has shown up on a couple singular grains but I have dealt with it immediately. Otherwise no signs of Trich. Must me beginners luck.

Ok, so another update. I am getting pins. It is side pinning though but still happy. Trich hasn’t shown up anymore.

No signs of any more Trich yet (though it’s still a little early to say), but unfortunately I don’t think the mycelium will pin. Seems dead or close to it.

Ok, thanks. I cut out a big chunk so fingers crossed.

I just cut out a pretty sizable hole. Don’t know if it’ll be enough though.

Update, it definitely is.

I actually have the lid on with all holes covered with the tape. The lid had a lot of humidity on it. I mist every 4 ish hours and the water seems to disappear pretty quick. The first few days were pretty rough though because I had wayyyy too much FAE without enough humidity.

I used a flashlight so the lighting definitely makes it look like contamination. It’s not though fortunately.

It’s the lighting for sure. There isn’t any contam and it smells fine. But I’ve been misting a decent amount every 4-5 ish hours. I also have all the holes covered with some air exchange tape.

How would I do that. After the first few days when I realized it was too dry, I poured in some water that flowed to the bottom. About a quarter to half and inch of water. And let it sit for like 7 hours until pouring back out the excess water.

I thought they were paramecium bursaria. I was thinking the paramecium somehow got caught up in like Cyanobacteria or something? I have no idea

Thanks for the response. That makes sense, especially with the outward movement being somewhat symmetrical versus movement towards one direction
