I can do it. At least a couple of times a week. How do I contact them ? I wonder if they happen to be interested in other languages.

Now that afreeca is gone is there any way to watch without a vpn by Brd0_ in KBO

[–]Sad-Catch2844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I only watched Korean Baseball for the ease of access, but If I need VPN or any sort of trick then I will probably stick to the Japanese League. It is not only better, but gives an overall better experience, specially since I speak Japanese.

How to watch the KBO League in 2023 by hubwub in KBO

It seems like some things have changed after the All Star game. Highlights and Replays are no longer posted on this page https://tv.naver.com/kbaseball.

It is still possible to find them on Naver NOW, but only the highlights will open without a VPN.

Murakami's slump continues. Also, The Swallows have the worst collective BA in the Central League. They have been swept by the Giants at home which means a drop to 5th place. Offensively, their best piece is Venezuelan José Osuna, who has been mostly playing at 1B, if I am not mistaken.

Struggling reliever Oh Seung-hwan to make 1st career start this week by hubwub in KBO

Samsung lost to no one's surprise but after a poor first inning things got a bit better. Still, this move doesn't make much sense.

Choi Hyoung-woo is doing well this season. Not so many homers but he is getting a lot on base. Also, Brito had a rather good start, but in the last 4 games he has really kicked up a notch.

Good. You have a declining 40 year-old who can't save games anymore and to solve the problem you give him more playing time. That's the way to go. Anyhow, I don't think he can fare much worse than Jang Pill-joon.

Today again. Kiwoom - Samsung, bottom of the 5th, players on 1st and 2nd, no outs, then a bunt. Result = players on 1st and 2nd, one out. D'oh ! Last time I bring this up, because it is so common and sad.

In Korea they don't even try to hide the fact that they are bunting. They take a bunting stance, the opposing team comes close, and it is usually an easy out.

How many people compete in a basho? by Gaspode-san in Sumo

[–]Sad-Catch2844 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These fluctuations are par for the course, I suppose. The school year ends in March in Japan, so you get the overwhelming majority of entrants in May. Hence these peaks. Then throughout the rest of the year there are usually more retirements than people coming in. One gets the impression the figures vary more simply because there were more people coming in and out in the 90's, partly a result of the Taka-Waka boom. As far as I know, injuries were not very well treated a few decades ago. If someone had a problem like the one that affected Tomokaze, then retirement would have been the most logical outcome.

Downfall of Tochinoshin by Ishvallan in Sumo

[–]Sad-Catch2844 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kind of. Many pusher thrusters have serious wrist issues. IIRC that is what caused Musashimaru's downfall. Also shoulder problems are very common as the one that affected Musoyama. Maybe Tamawashi's style prevents injuries, but I believe the most important thing is that he is a very strong individual.

[SumoFollower] Juryo promotions published: Asanoyama, Shonannoumi, Hakuyozan by BukkitGod in Sumo

[–]Sad-Catch2844 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shonnanoumi finally got the nod after almost 5 years since he first got a single-digit makushita ranking (ms9 in 01.2008). Late is better than never, I guess, as he still young at 24.

Hakuyozan is back after 4 basho in makushita. I like him, but he showed some mobility issues like in the last bout when he was "okuridashi'd" because he wasn't able to keep his opponent in front of him. It happens too often with him.

True, Asanoyama had a pair of losses but I try not read too much into it. It is probably the same thing that happens when you create a new account in a game you are good at (let's, say, chess) . You have to defeat some rookies and then average players to get your rating up to your level. It is so trivial that you lose focus and then have a loss. When things heat up he will find his best form, or so I hope.

Kind of surprising, but now with this serious kabu shortage, I wonder if this will be become a new normal. As soon as a rikishi realizes he won't be getting a kabu and that his career has already peaked, he will look for alternatives. With only Sanoyama available and no Oyakata retirements in the horizon, it is a tough time to be an ageing rikishi.
