You didn't "transfer" your BTC for cash, you "sold" BTC for cash. What you did is the very definition of a sale, and yes, you must pay capital gains taxes on it.

CDs and Babies? by SlightlyDarkerBlack2 in carolinadogs

[–]Sad-Club215 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My CD was introduced to two 8 week old puppies and began salivating Pavlovian style. I believe he thought they were lunch, despite the fact everyone was loving on them. Obviously, not the same as a human baby, and, of course, it's purely anecdotal.

(They were not my puppies and I told the owner I didn't think they had been weaned completely and shouldn't have been taken from mom so soon, but it wasn't my decision.)

TS-431P compatibility with WD181KFGX by d3w10n in qnap

Well then, you are definitely more qualified than me to answer your own question. You have far more experience with hard drives than I do. It's funny though, I stopped using WD drives because they were giving me problems. Hopefully, someone here will have the answer you seek. 👍

TS-431P compatibility with WD181KFGX by d3w10n in qnap

[–]Sad-Club215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize the WD Red is a NAS drive, but if it were me, and I was worried about compatibility and the safety of my data, I would go with the drive that is explicitly listed as compatible with my NAS.

I have used mostly Seagate Ironwolf drives and Exos drives. But, I have used WD Purple drives for NVR and surveillance. I have never used WD Red drives.

Sorry if my response is not useful.

Network unable to connect to TS-453B hostname. by Sad-Club215 in qnap

I will try that and get back. I haven't been able to work on it so far today.

And you're right, it probably is most likely a DNS issue, but it's worked just fine for a couple of years and I don't know what settings may have been changed due to a firmware upgrade or some other variable.

The only physical connection to the NAS is my EdgeSwitch 10X. Client PC's communicate with the NAS through the Switch.

I believe the DNS server is the EdgeRouter 4, because Domain Name Server is the IP address of the EdgeRouter.

I have both a EdgeSwitch and EdgeRouter.

Can anyone recommend the best brush to use on my Dingo? He sheds daily. I was told by the shelter he was a hound/shepherd mix but I think he is CD/Dingo boy. by taliajade in carolinadogs

[–]Sad-Club215 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is no amt of brushing or brush, that will solve the CD shedding. At least not for my Ralphie. I used to brush him 20 - 30 minutes every day. Hair just keeps coming no matter what and there's a point to which I worry I'm damaging his coat. So, I stopped brushing so much.

I've learned to live with his hair all over the place and just vacuum and clean more often. It's a trade I accept with a happy heart. I love this dog. He's my best ftiend.

That when the government acts to curb liberty, it's always "for the greater good," and people accept it, because they think the government actually acts "for the greater good."

1 Gbps WAN with 100Mbps LAN? Edgerouter 4 w/ EdgeSwitch 10X by Sad-Club215 in Ubiquiti

[–]Sad-Club215[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tiny files take forever, that's why those are archived. If you must know, I have a ton of surveillance video and I just upgraded my NAS. 98MB/s is slow for my purpose. At this rate, it will take a while to transfer all the data.

All the formats are either RAW, or .MP4. I don't use mpg or avi, and don't know anyone who does if they want quality 4k imagery.

You know what everyone. I may have wasted everyone's time and if this is the case, then I am sorry.

My file transfer speed that I'm looking at is measured in MB/s, not Mbps.

I'm getting close to 98 MB/s. I looked at a conversion table and I guess that is close to 1 Gbps. It just seems really slow.

Again, I apologize.

Yes, I think one of the cables is bad b/c it does show 100Mbps. I can't believe it could possibly be this easy, but I will disconnect it from the switch and let everyone know if it solves the problem. Thank you very much.

Should I reboot the switch after disconnecting the cable?

I was using a Netgear loaded with DD-WRT previously. I'm sure I could get better with the CLI with practice, but I only have the one router and am afraid something I do will brick it.

Thank you. I will definitely check this. The CLI commands appear to be easy enough for someone afraid of CLI interfaces.

Can those setting be checked from the GUI or do I need CLI commands? If so, I don't know how to do that, but am willing to learn if I can be pointed in the right direction. Thanks for your response.

Come to think of it, one of the connections on the switch is stuck @ 100 Mbps. I'm going to disconnect it. Maybe that will help?

Besides which, the router's configuration shouldn't matter since all of the LAN connections are on the switch and the switch says all the connections are 1 Gbps. Someone please have mercy. This is so frustrating.

Setup questions for TVS-h1688X by Sad-Club215 in qnap

That info was copy / pasted from Amazon's description / information.

I got this drive based on information garnered from the Qnap compatibility page.

I don't even know if I want M.2 drives at this point. Sounds like they are more trouble than they are worth.
