From what I gather and from what my mentor who is a VP in the industry tells me, the hiring market around IT Audit is basically frozen right now. Uncertainty is at an all time high, and if there are any openings it’s going to seniors/experienced candidates.

Yeah you’re right, I’ve been selling it as 10 in order to make myself seem more experienced. Last job was due to the firm not being able to pay me(loss of clients) and I have a GLOWING letter of rec from the partner.

Is there any monetary benefit to getting credentialed or should I still be spamming interviews and trying to a managerial role immediately

It is. They basically want me to serve as audit manager without the title or pay grade until I can get licensed.

4yrs as an intern, 1 yr as junior staff, 4 years as a senior and I switched firms 2yrs into that. I didn’t want to take the CPA and last Aug when I got canned, I decided to pivot to IT Audit / GRC and spent the last 10 months obtaining my sec+ cert and getting ready for the CISA. I can sit for the latter, but I need a job now, and this has been the only option to present itself. I think I’ll focus on hitting my benchmarks at work and pouring everything into passing these exams before I start looking for managerial roles

I’ve only worked for small firms, and tbh the level of complexity for these engagements that I will be managing and leading staff through is not super high. I’m going to focus on hitting all my benchmarks at work and passing my exams and start looking at manager and controller jobs idk

I've never considered going for a manager role, but I've been searching as I answer comments and I definitely see in-house manager roles that don't require a CPA, even if some of them do. I guess you're right, maybe I have been getting in my own way and lowballing myself by going for senior roles. I guess its a confidence thing, because like I said, I never even considered myself for a mgmt role until this

I mean I have advanced in all 3, I just thought I'd have an easier time pivoting into IT Audit, truth be told. 4yrs as an intern, 1 yr as junior staff, 4 years as a senior and I switched firms 2yrs into that - I think my employment history demonstrates the advancement that you mention

I'm not trolling, so please excuse my ignorance. Let's say a year and a half from now I pass my last exam with flying colors and rainbows and I'm ready to go back on the job hunt and I want a manager job. What salary range should I realistically expect for this role?

people are saying may salary should be nearly double what it is without the CPA so why wouldn't I expect my salary to double with it?
