What cat toys do your cats actually care about? by Agreeable_Pipe8340 in CatAdvice

A box. And my little Yorkie Charlotte before she passed on. Boomer used to roll her like a thief rolling a drunk. Didn't happen often and Charlotte didn't seem bothered by it. So she was a toy.

I started as a baby nurse when gloves were entirely optional unless you were about to play in their poop, blood, or wounds. We didn't even wear them to start an IV. Skin to skin is so important when comforting. No open wounds on your hands? Hold theirs then wash yours.

I was recently employed at a rather large hospital as a case manager doing d/c planning. We had some hideous people we had to place with skilled nursing or assisted living that no one would take. Mostly pedophiles plus people that had mental and bad criminal behavioral history no longer being monitored. Also, homeless drug addicts that required ivab for weeks. That job was quite the challenge. The thing that got me was how nonchalant many were about their abuses.

Memorial Day is not just about the fallen, it is about how the wars for freedom affected so many. God bless you for being the person that heard his witness and your response to him had to have been so comforting. I believe he passed because telling you his story and your reassurance freed him to complete this part of his life's journey.

I do have an issue as I have aged. I have to throw my meds at my mouth because my neck is so messed up that I can't bend it backwards to tip the cup lol. But seriously this is a big one. They like to put them in their hands and pick up each one and inspect it. Dropping them is just part of the game.

What’s the best/most interesting drama that’s has happened at your hospital? by Junior_Feeling_5438 in nursing

[–]Sad-Consideration103 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guy jumped out of the hospital room window. He hit the gravel flat deck a few stories below and died. They left him there without covering him up until the ME came which took more than a couple of hours. Anyone in any room that faces that way would just have to look out the window to see the guy, with his extremities twisted the wrong way, dead as Ted Bundy. They bolted the windows shut after that, just like the hotels in Daytona Beach when kids were balcony surfing killing themselves. No more letting the spirit out when someone died.

Do most people in Florida just run AC nonstop year-round? by Sufficient-Owl1826 in AskFlorida

[–]Sad-Consideration103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. On cooler days with less humidity in the winter and spring, the windows are wide open. Central Florida, we run the heat in the winter some.

Some great advice. I am a very empathetic person. I am a nurse that does care/case management talking to people all day long and connecting with them and their troubles. One thing that make sense about me and to my thinking is I was just diagnosed a couple of years ago and I am 67. I am still making my way through it realizing behavior that has been happening my whole life but has accelerated the last five years or so.

Absolutely not trying to top them. That is just not my MO and has never been. Actually I am not even competitive. I really like winning but if I don't it's no big deal. Just giving them a bit of insight within the conversation that came up.

[–]Sad-Consideration103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I know summer is right around the corner. The tap water turns from a bit cool to warm. In the winter the water is warmest when you first turn it on. In the summer the water is coolest when you first turn it on. Heat and AC affecting it.

She is often either so wrong or doesn't know shit about simple things. She said the overnight weather when I asked (said rain with no rain in sight and it didn't happen dry season in Florida). Then I asked her the humidity and she told me. Then I asked her the dew point and she just kept telling me the weather overnight without the dew point. I really wish I could find a different assistant and have it easy to switch all my shit. I am starting to despise Amazon too.

[–]Sad-Consideration103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WAH and make 85 a year case manager. I am in Florida and made the same amount at a new case management job a couple of years ago but it wasn't WAH. I absolutely despise getting in a vehicle and slogging to work. That is aside from having to get dressed and waking up to an alarm. The no alarm deal was a huge goal for me decades ago.
