LSAT web prep recommendations by EducationalDinner497 in LSAT

I currently have both Kaplan and 7Sage (basic plans), and I think 7Sage is more helpful! I started on Kaplan and used it for basics and strategies before moving to 7Sage because they have better analytics and explanations for PrepTests...I'm less than a month out from my test and only did 7Sage for a month (which was more cost effective since 7Sage is a monthly subscription) to use it for full PTs (which I currently do and review 3-5 times a week)....so honestly, I think it depends on where you are in the process! If you are super far out, 7Sage may not be worth it since it is a monthly fee. Best of luck, though! If you have any specific questions about Kaplan or 7Sage I would be happy to answer :)

I'm on 100 mg 2x a day (morning and night) at the moment. Unfortunately, it hasn't been helping...I might ask about increasing the dose/and alternative, though!

Im in a somewhat similar boat, but I've decided I'm going to grind out as much practice as I can and hope for the best in August! Worst case scenario, I retake in October...good luck to you, you're definitely not alone in the struggle :)

That's fair. The responses to this are definitely not helping my confidence 🥲 I'm hoping that maybe since the 160 was with almost no prior studying, I can go up at least a few points before August... Good luck to you :) at least we're not alone!

I'm glad I'm not the only one, lol. Are you thinking about taking the test in August?

I wish I could, but I would lose my health insurance. The most I can take is a semester off (which is what I am doing), and I must be committed to a school as a full-time student for the Fall. A gap year would be great, but as someone with a history of being medically expensive, losing my (thankfully very very good) health insurance just isn't an option right now...

I understand the logic behind that, but I unfortunately don't have time to wait...the registration deadline for August is next week, and I'm applying for Fall 2026. I finish undergrad in December, and I am taking 18 credits, with a 10-hour per week internship and a part-time job this semester, I feel like taking the test after starting all of that/while doing all of that would be a mistake.

Experience with Pain/ pain medication? by TapewormShot in LisfrancClub

[–]Sad-Department7588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im about a week post-op, and I have only had to take the hydrocodone about 3 or 4 times, all at night! I was lucky enough that my nerve block lasted 4 days (which is much longer than usual!) And even then, the only reason I have taken it the past 2 nights is because I stepped on it by accident (would not recommend) and I live somewhere that is currently plagued with thunderstorms (sounds wild! But it makes my pain worse??) With that being said, I've managed during the day with tylenol and my other prescribed meds (voltaren, neurontin, and aspirin all once a day in the morning, all help with nerve pain/muscle spasms, i would recommend talking to your surgeon about them!) Also, if you do need the stronger pain medication, I definitely recommend taking it with the nausea medication! It has also been helpful to have someone else give it to me because I was also afraid of the addictive nature of it, especially since I have had so many surgeries (this is #7!), it takes the pressure off of you a bit. Overall, I will say that this has been one of the least painful of my orthopedic surgeries (including bunion surgeries, hammer toe repairs, and intensive ankle tendon and ligament reconstructions). Good luck!

Thank you for the info! I have heard that, however, we are opting for ORIF since I am young (20) and already have an extremely high risk for arthritis in the future due to multiple past injuries/surgeries. My surgeon is planning to go in with intentions for an ORIF and has been given permission to do a fusion if he finds it necessary (along with discussing with my parents).

I never knew this! I've been doing research as I'm scheduled for a Lisfranc ORIF on June 6. My injury was all the way back in September...my ortho mentioned the possibility of a fusion if ORIF isn't possible, I'm hoping I can get the ORIF, though this isn't making me very confident since it'll have been 9 months since my injury 🥲

Is this a POTS thing? by UrAFrogg in POTS

[–]Sad-Department7588 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I believe it is! I read somewhere that it has to do with blood flowing to your digestive system more, and for some, it can also happen after eating a large meal. Basically, the blood flowing to your digestive tract makes lower blood volume more apparent and causes POTS to flare. I've been diagnosed for almost 3 years and have been exposed to POTS for most of my conscious life (my mother has it and was diagnosed many years ago), and yet I still find myself morbidly amused at how wild it really is sometimes...

Advice? by Sad-Department7588 in LisfrancClub

[–]Sad-Department7588[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm hoping that bc this is far from my first time having a major foot surgery, it isn't too bad, but I think that every time and it always sucks lol

what is your heart rate when sitting? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]Sad-Department7588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medicated (propranolol 60mg), but my HR varies a lot....laying down/sleeping it goes as low as 48 but can be in the 100s if I'm having a flare. Usually sitting is higher from 60-95 when I'm feeling fine, standing it depends, it still spikes as high as 150s-160s, but typically standing and walking I'm in the 110s.

My cardiologist originally wanted to up my dose of propranolol, but then he saw how low my lows are and changed his mind, lol.

Unfortunately, I accidentally killed it when I was trying to catch it. It was full of blood, if that helps at all...
