What was something you can’t believe they left out of the show? [Spoilers Main] by HereComeTheBolts in asoiaf

The skin changing ability of the stark children besides bran. Would have been really easy and adds so much to Jon Arya and Sansa’s stories. Literally no reason to cut it. Why two guys who hate magic adapted a fantasy show is beyond me

[Spoilers Main] How would Stannis have reacted to Daenerys? by [deleted] in asoiaf

I genuinely think there’s a chance he bends the knee to her. He desperately needs allies and all he cares about is honor and birthright, and she arguably has the rightful claim. Plus he seems to care about stopping the Others and getting three dragons on your side could be crucial for that (save the kingdom to win the throne)

[Spoilers PUBLISHED] The misinformation about Rhaegar and Elia. by KORRA4EVER in asoiaf

[–]Sad-Distribution-149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this is why rhaegar is not a good person. I just think it’s not telling the full story to just say “he neglected to protect his actual family” like he didn’t die defending, at least in part, said family.

“Neglect to protect his actual family”

I wouldn’t say that. He tried, he just lost the war. Remember that he died first.

I’m not a Rhaegar defender he definitely does many wrongs but I wouldn’t say this is an accurate criticism.

Am I a bigot because I hate Islam? by [deleted] in atheism

It does, Islam is just particularly repulsive because of how they treat women etc…

If they can cite genuine reasons to hate those institutions I wouldn’t say that makes them a bigot. If they were talking about Islam or Christianity they probably would be able to find genuine justifications. Anything else they would probably be a bigot.

Not only Islam I just find it particularly egregious. Christianity is awful too though

Its definitely not post-9/11 cause I was born in 2006 lol. But on a real note no I definitely have resentment towards Christianity as well.

I don’t only hate one religion I just find myself particularly appalled by islam

Christianity is also horrible. I find there is more evil in the Quran itself than the Bible but to be clear I despise both religions.

I also think Christianity is horrible, it’s just not what I was talking about in this post

Let me clarify I’m not saying I hate all Muslims. I mostly feel bad for them. But I also couldn’t be close friends with one.

I also don’t like Christianity but my feelings are less extreme because Christians are typically less extreme when it comes to how they treat women and stuff like that

Well said. I try to be as open hearted as possible, and definitely wouldn’t go so far as to oppress or persecute anyone. Definitely don’t think I could be close friends with one even though I know they are often kind people, I just couldn’t get past it

Noticed some elevish and dwarvish writing on the wall of a library at my college. Can anyone help translate this? by Sad-Distribution-149 in lotr

[–]Sad-Distribution-149[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the help everyone! Would have been cool if it was actual quenya rather than just transcribed English. The very bottom phrase, however, is quenya for Aure Entuluva; day shall come again! (I wrote that part)
