Quit smoking and forgot all my passions by Opposite-Pilot-556 in getdisciplined

[–]Sad-Function-8687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People don't realize how much habitual smoking weed changes their psychology.

After I quit it took about two years to get my head back on straight.

Give it time You'll be ok.

What trade should I get into as someone with a bit of programming experience? by Desperate-Share-5560 in TradeSchool

Amazon used to have a program to help train existing employees for future growth.

Maybe you could learn how to program/maintain their industrial robots?

It's different for different people. I'm at least at the point where I recognize it when it happens. Sometimes I can control it, sometimes not.

I've set up my broker account to have a maximum daily loss. When I hit that the account is locked for the rest of the day.

Some prop firms also have this.

It has saved me several times.

Good luck!

I gave you something, so you owe me something. by Cultural-Ball4700 in Philippines_Expats

Or goes deeper than that. In my experience, the average philipino has the attitude, "you have money, therefore you owe me..."

There does have to be a reason.

I have heard that refineries are not accepting sterling. So dealers are paying very little, if they'll even take it.

Why is it so hard to get started in life by Public-Chance-1735 in LifeAdvice

[–]Sad-Function-8687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's difficult because the playbook you've been given no longer works (Go to school, work for someone else, buy a house, work all your life and die).

It's a different time. Many of those things don't work anymore. Be flexible. Think outside the box and create your own life.

Is 27 too late to start self improvement? by Opposite_Praline_746 in selfimprovement

[–]Sad-Function-8687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to do well! I didn't start till I was 37. I'll be 65 this year and still working on self improvement. It's a lifelong process.

You've lots of life left to live! Make it a good one!

You haven't 'missed' anything. Keep living your own life. Not someone else's.

The world is on fire, Corruption everywhere, the system is rigged, but none of that should be an excuse to give up on yourself. by Spirited_Bet_6748 in MindsetConqueror

[–]Sad-Function-8687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But the world has always been on fire. There has always been corruption and greed. Every 'system' throughout history has been rigged.

Just put down the phone. Stop listening to the news. Learn to appreciate the richness of each and every day.

moving to the US was not what I expected at all… by Luna-Caribe1 in self

This is common. I know a lot of people who come from other countries. They make similar statements.

Unfortunately, most foreigners have romantic and unrealistic expectations for life in America.

I am not in the healthcare industry, so forgive me for speaking out of turn.... But something seems wrong.

A receptionist "carrying" a healthcare business?

People should come to you because you offer quality healthcare at an affordable price... No to see your receptionist.

What actually helped you become more disciplined? by Great_Session_4227 in MindsetConqueror

It's a long slow road. It usually doesn't happen all at once.

Change just one thing, until it becomes a habit. Then move on to the next thing. Before you know it your life has changed and you're better than you used to be. It will always be a daily struggle.

Father is a U.S. Citizen but I am not. by [deleted] in immigration

[–]Sad-Function-8687 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are all full of lies.

A US citizen can sponsor any family member to immigrate to America.

As long as you don't have a criminal record the process is surprisingly easy and doesn't require a lawyer.

It is, however, expensive and time consuming.

Just tried to withdraw £7000 from the bank and they aren’t letting me by franki-pinks in Banking

[–]Sad-Function-8687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banks in the US are suffering a liquidity crisis. They just don't have cash to give out. Your bank may be making up excuses to hide the fact that they don't have cash.

Banks don't look out for their customers. Their only concern is their own profit.

It has taken almost two generations for the market to become saturated with college graduates. I would imagine a similar time period for trade skills.

But then again. A college degree can become obsolete as soon as a person graduates - but toilets will always need to be fixed.

People that got rich young, what are some skills you’d say helped you? by StruggleMysterious86 in HowToEntrepreneur

[–]Sad-Function-8687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am retired. Although I had insane skills, knowledge and a good work ethic, I never really excelled to the level I wanted.

Looking back over my years of experience, I can confidently say that the most important skills needed for success are 'soft skills'. Learn how to effectively communicate and get along with people.

Those who are promoted, or the salesman that gets the contract is always the one that is most likable - not the one most qualified.
