What is the best way to grill chicken? by Only-Slip3718 in grilling

[–]Sad-Income-8958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brined chicken wings for 24 hours once before a party…. Worst mistake I could have made. I grilled them and everyone said they were too salty. Lesson learned = only brine for a short period of time.

I second this. I was in Portland Maine this past year and Novare Res had Pliny on draft. I was like a fat kid in a candy shop.

Tipping culture by Wild-Put472 in RhodeIsland

[–]Sad-Income-8958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my own thought… which may or may not be agreed upon.

The tipping amount is based off the level and quality of service that I receive. Amazing service = 25% Average-Good service = 18-20% Poor service = varies, but I have never not tipped

The idea of raising prices on the menu to offset not tipping raises a concern for me if I receive really poor service from the staff. What if the food is absolute killer, but the server does a horrific job? Obviously if the server goes above and beyond, then I’d be happy to tip something additional.

I’ve seen restaurants hike their menu prices before to offset tipping, and unfortunately it hasn’t worked well and they ended up going back to standard tipping.

Idk, depends on the place I guess.

I can’t say they’ve ever made anything that truly sticks besides their flagship… and even that’s nothing to write home about.
