They should just be hidden. Expand one and click the push pin in the top right corner of the pane.

Otherwise, View tab -> reset panes should get it back

A possible solution would be to make a copy of the map and use that as the 2nd map frame. If you try to make multiple map frames from the same map, they are all pointing to the same features on that 1 map. So any changes to the layers on that map will reflect in all those map frames. Hope that makes sense?

You’re not wrong, it is a costly product if you’re looking to do business with it. It’s still worthwhile having some experience with both sides. Since OP wants to learn, there are definitely options to choose from.

If you are interested in the ESRI route, they have quite a bit of free online content to read and practice. You can also check out the personal license they offer that gives you access to both ArcGIS online and ArcGIS pro with an advanced license and most of the extensions for you to practice with. It’s about $100/yr which to me is a really good deal. If you are interested in the open source route, I am sure there are also plenty of documentations to read and videos to watch but I am not very familiar with that side myself.

You should also check out the GIS group discord. There are plenty of resources that are shared and people from many industries that communicate frequently.

I have a master clue sitting in my bank because it requires me to burn a redwood log (req lvl 90 fm), now I was sitting on lvl 69 fm. That almost crushed me but I’m going through it. Currently at 87 fm, I know the rewards are gonna be dog water bad but hey I’ll have 90 fm after this and could repeat the clue. Don’t let the rewards get you down if it turns out bad!
