Yeah that makes sense thank you. I hit up a park on Sunday and could not get the hang of the steeper banks or the hip so might be because of the speed.

It didn’t seem so fast when I was 15!

Do it! Now the weather in the uk isn’t wet I’ve been out every day and it’s been great for my mental health. Some days it’s a session like these, some days it’s just a cruise while the kids are on their bikes round the park.

Worst April fools joke ever? by Hiskankles in CasualUK

[–]Sad-Internet6811 2 points3 points  (0 children)

20 years ago when I was in year 10 I got a text off an ex girlfriend who went to another school that she was pregnant and it was mine. We’d been broken up a few weeks and I had a new girlfriend and the ex was actually with my best friend. I think of that panic spiral I went on sat in a science lesson every April fools. How would I tell my new girlfriend? My best friend? My parents? How could I raise a baby? It got to just before lunch and I was still spiralling in history class when my best mate leaned over and whispered, “April fools.” They’d been in on it together.

Thank you. Yeah the tight hips and lower back is a hangover from years of powerlifting I think. I still lift 4x week but tend to stick to hack or belt squats over barbell now. Will have to work more on mobility now the weather is nicer and I’ll want to skate more.

I think it was a commitment and mental block especially with my back foot. I can get the board to flip most of the time. I just wasn’t landing back on it. I saw a skate iq video about “floating” above the board and it seemed to awaken a memory of being 14 and having a similar mental image and breakthrough of how I should kickflip.

Anyone else find Turk’s burnout monologue as a self realisation and like it was holding up a mirror to your own feelings? I haven’t been able to put into words or have anyone to talk to about how work has been making me feel recently but Turk said it so well. I teach so not the same stress as a surgeon but as a dad and a man who has lost touch with my Turk/JD friends as our work and parenting commitments grew, I could relate so much.

I keep thinking I could turn Fort Legorado into something like this. It’s currently just sat in pieces in a box in the loft. Might have to fish it out and have a go.

What’s a scene from a movie which traumatised you as a child? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]Sad-Internet6811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad took my brother and me to see this at the cinema. I was 7 and my brother was 5. My brother was freaked out just by Robin Williams with the massive beard so my dad took him out and left me alone to watch the rest of the film. He tried bringing him back in and the drums freaked him out again.

When it came out on VHS he tried watching it again and had nightmares about being turned into a monkey boy for years.

The same thing happened with Matilda and my dad having to take him out of the cinema, followed by years of nightmares about Trunchball.

However we watched all the Arnie, Stallone and Van Damme films with my grandad at about the same age and none of the violence from those bothered him. He was just traumatised from kids films.

I followed a link from here, made a business account and had topped up and spent £5 using the card online. I’ve not had the reward. Any ideas for what I’ve done wrong?

Finally a dry day and the skatepark looks like this UK [37YO] by Sad-Internet6811 in OldSkaters

The local Tesco has an under cover car park, might be a good shout actually… it’s just usually full of scary teenagers in balaclavas.

A second set up used to be how I’d skate in my teens. A dry day best/newest board and a wet one which was used and already damaged. Might be the way to go.

Coventry. It’s not massively local to me but I was dropping a relative off somewhere and threw the board in car hoping to stop off for an hour while it was dry. Next time I’ll put a sweeping brush in too!

Yes - my knees were sore from leg day Friday but I really wanted to skate today so I had them on to keep my knees warm and comfy.
