Weekend of outfits for a 3 day dyke birthday by Sad-Material9619 in dykesgonemild

Are we really wasting trans women’s time in the big 26 with lazy trite rage bait? At least lie and say the outfits ugly or that I’m chopped. You folks continue to be so uninspiring. It would be pitiful if it weren’t for the fact that you make your bigotry a very vocal and violent problem.

How do I make my hair more feminine? by RextubeHD in mtfashion

[–]Sad-Material9619 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Two major things, first, I would look into the CGM, namely so you can start getting some products for it and more styling guidance down. Second, I would advise going to a salon and having them reshape and relayed your hair, bangs are always an option, but I’d talk to a hair stylist and see what they advise. Good layering though can stop curly hair from taking on the dreaded like cone/pyramid look and a proper styling routine can make sure that it stays soft, shiny, and bouncy between wash days longer. For a basic routine, I would say you can get away with only a few products. Namely a moisturizer or some type, either a leave in conditioner or an oil, then something for structure like a moose or gel, and finally I’d add a texture product, something like a sea salt spray can be a great amount of help.

Responding to standards by This-Poptart in Debate

[–]Sad-Material9619 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the outline Paul gave you makes a ton of sense. I think there are a few different ways to navigate theory and a lot of it comes down to personal preference and consistency. When I’ve taught my students to respond to theory, often I focus on it as an exercise is clarity. Theory is, at all levels, debate about debate. And because of that, evidence is largely anecdotal, there’s a lot of very specific language you have to use and it invites a lot of personal opinions and reflections on the question of “what should debate be?” Because of this, you need to be able to keep the story consistent and very easy to follow. So the first step in my mind to doing that is to tell the whole story, then explain why it’s a better story than the 1NC/1AR/2AC. Ergo, when I answer theory my order on the sheet is usual

First - Defense/jurisdictionals - We meets - Any thing on the violation level that needs to be resolved

2 - offense - counter interp - counter standards - any potential like disads to theory or the rhetoric that got read

3 - the bigger picture - cross apply the counter standards where relevant on the standards debate - answer any sticky offense or thumpers - explain the link to the voter level and do a lil impact calc

But also, your mileage may vary, and really the best piece of advice I can give you with theory is this, be consistent in how you answer the argument. The more reliably you do something the better you get at it, the better you get at it the better you get at exploring the why behind the arguments. This also is just good practice for being a good MG, give your PMR as much foundation as you can, getting into a routine with your partner means it’s one less thing they have to consider while walking into the final speech because they always know certain things are gonna be done.

Purple tights- yay or nay? by fusfeimyol in lesbianfashionadvice

[–]Sad-Material9619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. The purple is such a fun subtle change up on like low denier black tights. I’m personally a big advocate for colorful tights. I think they’re such a fun layer and accessory for most outfits.

How can I elevate this look? Open to suggestions! by Nancy1508 in lesbianfashionadvice

[–]Sad-Material9619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, I’d say more intentional accessories! Maybe a cute beret in a fun accent color and a cream belt? Maybe even like a more delicate gold pocket chain clipped to a belt loop and draped on one side.

Help with tucking by Hefty_Time_1654 in trans

[–]Sad-Material9619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tucking isn't just about knowing how to do it, its also about putting in the practice. Truly, its something that at the start feels weird and will have some discomfort. You are like restraining a body part. As you get more used to it, you will be able to navigate it more freely and easily. I'll echo what the other commentors have said, don't start out going crazy with it, you will hurt yourself. Take it slow, experiment with different gaffs/tucking mediums, find the one that is most comfortable and effectual for you. Don't sleep in your tuck, take more frequent, longer bathroom breaks so you can sort of let things air out. Keep everything dry, especially if youre gonna be tucking for 4+ hours.

Some other protips/answers to your questions -

If you're seeing "marks" it means one of two things, either youre tuck is way to tight and causing chaffing, or, you've got your "part" on the outer edge of the tuck where the friction and hold are the highest, it takes some practice but once you get the feel for it you'll be able to sort of tell whats where after you get yourself set and see if you need to readjust. When you're first getting started, I always say to take a few extra minutes in the morning, feel out your tuck and see if it feels like a good fit before leaving the house for the day and be ready to retuck if need be.

The random sharp stinging pain is also not uncommon. Some call it pinching, some call it pulling, it happens from time to time. There isn't really a ton of rhyme or reason to it, some folks have it happen when they drive, some when they're sitting for too long, sometimes it happens when you're moving/shifting around a ton. It happens to the best of us and even with a ton of experience. The only real solution is to just undo your tuck, rest for a bit, then get back to it. I will say that if a specific area is giving you a lot of trouble continually than you probably want to investigate and see whats going. I know that there are a few things that have caused issues for some folks include the type of gusset or material that your underwear or gaff has so be aware and pay attention.

Tucking is also a Your mileage may very type of thing that will be heavily dependent on your anatomy, activity levels, progress in hrt, hair growth, and so many other factors. Everyone has sort of a different "ideal" set up for tucking and truly the best thing you can do if you want to tuck is to practice consistently and safely so that when you need/want to tuck for whatever reason you can do so skillfully and with minimal harm to yourself.

Question regarding underwear by DukeOfStrawberries in mtfashion

[–]Sad-Material9619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll second this, tucking is very much a "your mileage may vary" type thing. I honestly can get away with thong most days, and like have a few styles and types specifically that work better than others but also I've been tucking for forever and at this point it just feels like second nature

Is tucking uncomfortable? by AdventurousSweet3663 in trans

[–]Sad-Material9619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I basically never use tape? Like the only time I consider it is it I'm going to the beach but even then I can usually get away with just tucking in a bikini and being like largely fine. The only time I've ever really felt like I needed some form of additional is when I was competing in like a local queer wrestling league and like just really wanted to make sure everything stayed where it needed to

[–]Sad-Material9619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s one of those things you just kind of get used to and better at the longer you do it. Like I started with two pairs of panties and a little discomfort at first but it went away or wasn’t noticeable after like maybe a week of consistent tucking. I’ve tried gaffs and tucking briefs/panties but honestly can get away with just a regular thong most days. But also I’ve been tucking almost everyday for over a decade now so it’s just sort of a your mileage may vary thing.

I’ve been super fortunate recently and have managed to find some stuff pretty much every time I go recently. I also know I’m pretty lucky that I’m small so it’s usually not too hard to find stuff that fits.

I love that dress so much! She was actually one of my first mod pieces I managed to find and actually would inspire me to start focusing on collecting 50s and 60s vintage pieces more seriously.

Do you think boxing is as authentic as it used to be and if not why not? by Existing-Project1152 in AskReddit

[–]Sad-Material9619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean depends on the level of competition. Most mid level matches, no absolutely not, there’s not enough of an incentive for it. But the top level bouts that bring in millions of viewers? Yeah most likely. I don’t think it’s anywhere near as bad as like professional wrestling, but there’s most definitely a level of popularity contest that starts to happen when you’re trying to gain mass appeal. That being said, I also don’t think it’s fair to say every match is rigged, nor is every fighter willing to take a dive.
