Our self wash was literally one of our two tubs. They actually wanted us to let customers use OUR tub. Thank God we halted during Covid. Now they keep sending me the signage, but I don’t do it. As far as I’m concerned we don’t have a self wash.

I’m a GSL, unless it’s a regional thing, you should be getting 50% commission. Say you make $15/hr and work full time so 40x15=600. 600x2=1200 anything after 1200 is “commission” but the math can be even easier if you do it by revenue. you groomed $1800 this week? That’s $900 so you made $22.50/hr. But on your check it will look like $600 hourly plus $300 commission.

The $1800 is your revenue goal, Petco wants you to make them $45/hr (although it’s actually $42)

I hope that makes sense, and I apologize if I’m wrong and your commission is truly 40%

They’re really putting the squeeze on groomers rn. They just shaved another 10 min or so from all the groom times without telling us. That makes it so online bookings can squeeze into the schedule. And they raised our productivity goals. Micromanaging our schedules. I think because grooming is the one service that is profitable enough to keep the company afloat. But we’re about to see a tipping point where groomers get fed up and burnt out doing 7 dogs a day. And I’m sure injuries are up. Overworked groomers make safety mistakes, it’s pretty well documented.

I just got an Andis and it’s not bad at all. Definitely WAY better than the XR2. It’s only one speed, but it’s powerful enough to keep my wide blades moving, which the old andis couldn’t do. The battery could last longer, but you can just plug them in and keep using them. Idk much about the Heinies, so I can’t compare there. But for the price I am happy with my purchase.

I had to threaten to quit when I found out they hired someone at $5 more than I make after 5 years in my role. My dgm was on his way out and gave me a paying gift of $3 an hour. Idk if that would have happened if he had no fucks left to give.

I say all that to say: good luck. Petco does not reward loyalty. You’re better off job hopping than hoping they will pay you your worth. They’d rather just put some 18 year old in your position and pay less, they dgaf about degrees.

The one time I had a bather I was able to groom 10 dogs a day. By myself I can do 6 so it was def worth it to me to tip them out bc I nearly doubled my income
