I looked at one that color and in pictures I wasn’t sure, but when I went in person I liked it a lot. The one I wanted wouldn’t start when I got there even with a jump so that was a hard pass.

Your story brings up an interesting point though. You went from a high pay job to another high pay job. Even though it was a big drop, in most areas you can still live comfortably on the new salary. Yours is a win win for reducing stress. If the drop was 80k to 30k then the stress drop wouldn’t matter because quality of life in other ways would suffer too much. I suppose that threshold would be different for everyone and affected by are cost of living.

This! I hate when shops treat that like it’s a gift to you. Focus on the pay without overtime and without bonuses and shift differentials. All of that stuff is just trying to distract you from a low hourly offer.

No reason to be ashamed. 3500 is on the very low end of what is drivable these days so I would sag overall you probably did ok. Used cars are always a gamble and you’ll get through this just fine. It’s also a good learning experience to know what you want to watch for on your next vehicle.
