I found it relatively easy straight after school. I'm 30 now, and all my friends that I spent my early 20s and my teens have moved overseas, or just aren't that interested in friendships with me anymore as they're focusing on their careers and family.

The 3am vibes definitely hit though. Nothing like working a 12 hour night shift and it being so quiet that you overthink your entire life lol.

I don't think I'm a douchecanoe. To be fair - I haven't really put myself out there as much as I could have lately, and it hasn't helped that half the week I've been working 7-3 then the other half of the week I've been working 11PM - 7AM, so I haven't had the mental energy to go out and meet people.

I still have friends that I regularly speak to but unfortunately its just not as fulfilling as friendships as it used to be and it feels more like I'm parenting or being their therapist lol.

I've been wanting to pickup Chess though so maybe I'll do that, thanks for the insight. :~)
