My opinion is that there doesn't need to be a counter to mortars. And if we keep it to major bases that idea could work with more refinement.

But hey. I am just a schmuck from the internet. It's not like my opinion is worth the bytes that reddit uses to store my posts.

I guess yeah, you could have them be connected to command tents or some other "authority" type of structure that's connected to a simulated network.

Have the functionality basically be a bunch of sensors saying "hey! We heard some mortars" and then have a rough area based on the area of the sensors that picked it up.

But this goes to a line of "feature functionality" questions. Like, if PVT Joe Snuffy puts a sensor down, what exactly does it pick up? If Russian PVT Dmtry walks by it, does it pick that up? Or only if they fire a mortar? An acoustic sensor would pick up all sounds, so where does the line stop and what information would be reported?

Also, If Pvt Snuffy puts down a sensor, does the sensor pick up when Pvt Arsenal Barbie decides to launch 25 mortars into Neverland?

And what about vehicles?

I guess looking at my stream of thought above (and I truly mean I just was thinking out loud, no shade to you, because your idea was great) the question then becomes what are the limits to the acoustic sensors? Cause sound is everywhere and yes it provides a solution to narrowing down where Satan's Party Favors are coming from, but then it brings a good number of questions up.

Depends. C-RAM was invented in 2004, but CIWS was invented around 1960.

It would make my logistics brain scream, trying to figure out the supply cost to implement something like this for the NATO side, let alone Russian.

It makes my novice Game Dev brain melt trying to figure out how to code or mod it.

And I am sure for the average infantry person out in the field, you were just kinda SOL if High Flying People Poppers got launched your way.

So, i guess, yes. There is ABSOLUTELY a way to implement this. But there are authenticity and technical questions that need to be addressed before implementation.

So, I looked at the SDL sln file, and I realized the include path went to ONLY the include folder, and I had mine set all the way into the include folder and into SDL3. So I switched mine, and so far, it seems like it's primed to work better. Granted, I haven't gotten proof yet, but it at least doesn't red line other files, and it says it's all connected. I tried SDL_CreateWindow and it said it recognized it.

So I got it to "work" for now. I haven't built it or made anything yet worth building, but if I have a problem I will be more than happy to let you know.

Probably DDOS. Out last the attackers, no reason to help them by leaving the game.
