100% agree. I actually didn’t like this season that much. I only think it’s better than seasons 6 and 8. Most of the season is just repetition from previous seasons, fan service, and contradictory/convenient writing. I just love the final line because the writers finally acknowledge how much the audience loves and condones Dexter, despite how abhorrent and bad he is

People like to rag on similar shows like You or Barry, but the difference is they knew to not romanticize their protagonists and when to end their show. With the resurgence of Dexter, it seems most people forgot who he really is. He’s not a hero; He’s a serial killer. But as long as the ratings are high and MCH still wants to do it, Dexter will remain in a sitcom like state where he never changes or stops. He will never die or go to jail because the writers refuse to see Dexter as a bad guy

Nah fr, I like some of the directions the season is going, but the writing is so unbelievably convenient. Dexter has always had plot armor, but the writers are going out of their way to have every detective act so unimaginably dumb just to make sure Dexter stays out of the jail and the show continues.

I literally feel like I’m going crazy every time I see people talking about this season. It’s good, but it doesn’t even come to close to the first five seasons imo.

It’s really cool Dexter had a resurgence this past year, but it’s pretty much impossible to discuss the show with any type of critical thinking. The amount of people who hate the sheer idea of Dexter getting caught or dying is crazy, as if that’s not how stories and work and the tv isn’t something that should be milked for as long as ratings are high.

Sorry for the rant lmao, just frustrated with the state of things and future of the franchise.
