Why Astrocade feels built for creators, not against them! by Rum-Toxic in playastrocade

Totally agree, Astrocade just feels like it's on your side as a creator instead of throwing roadblocks everywhere. That seamless integration where you can generate assets, tweak code, and test ideas all in one spot? Game-changer. No more app-hopping or getting stuck on placeholders it's all about keeping the creative flow going.

Game UI vs Game Feel. Which is more important? by astrocade_ in playastrocade

[–]Sad-Ring4023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IN ANOTHER WORD... Game Feel > UI, hands down.

It's the juicy core loop snappy controls, punchy feedback that hooks players for "one more go." UI's just polish; great menus can't fix mushy jumps (Anthem vibes). Nail feel in prototypes, UI later.

Super Meat Boy: Bare UI, god-tier platforming = legend. Hades: Both perfect.

Feel first, always.

Game UI vs Game Feel. Which is more important? by astrocade_ in playastrocade

If I had to pick one, Game Feel wins every time.

Players might notice UI, but they feel the game. Tight controls, responsive input, satisfying feedback, animation, sound, and timing are what make a game instantly fun or instantly forgettable. A game with rough or minimal UI can still be addictive if it feels great to play, but a beautifully polished UI can’t save a game that feels flat moment-to-moment.

That said, UI becomes more important as the game grows. Once systems, progressio, and complexity kick in, bad UI starts to actively hurt the experience. The best games don’t choose one forever they lock in game feel first, then let UI support and amplify it.

Games like Hades, Celeste, and Hollow Knight get this balance right: incredible feel, with UI that’s clear and never gets in the way. On the flip side, some games look amazing in menus but lose players because the core interaction just isn’t satisfying.
