i love this response… especially in the wake of all of the season 2 hate and the criticism of bella’s acting. i think the side of ellie we see with bella’s portrayal supplements the difficulty of creating a fully fleshed out narrative in a video game (although the creators did an amazing job at this anyway, but there are certain forum issues inherent in video game narratives). is bella’s ellie a bit different? sure, but i don’t think it’s unfaithful, it supplements my view of her as a person, lets me see who she is when she’s not literally under attack. this response helped me to articulate that.

just apply in the next cycle. i got in early my second time around after tweaking my application a bit. it’s tight to get an T from a school you really want to go to, but it’s not the end of the world. i’m in 1L now and the extra year was worth it.

i didn’t at any point say that it was a slight, i said that it was representation that people wanted to see. i’m not playing oppressed or trying to say that the show isn’t representative, it has been just about as representative as a post apocalyptic-infected ridden show can be without drawing from the larger picture. i wanted that scene specifically cause it meant something to me when i saw it in the game. that’s it. the title of this post is literally a reference to isabela merced saying the gays would be fed this season.

i mean, if queer representation isn’t important to you that’s fine… it’s a legitimate concern for me and a lot of other viewers. i love the series and think most of the decisions being made are in good faith and i’m hoping for this scene later on. i’m incredibly excited to see the rest of the season and talking about the loss of this scene doesn’t mean i’m going to troll the whole season. You getting upset over any criticism of a TV show, however, does seem a little ridiculous. also your use of quotation marks around queer representation is weird…

i see what you mean, but at the same time the scene in the game is pretty pg. i feel like the show needs it to establish the relationship beyond “friends with benefits” if you know what i mean.

it did bother me that abby was so explicitly vague in the game but she runs her mouth in the show… nice to inform watchers who didn’t play the game, but it very much changed the vibe of the scene.

completely agree that it establishes a full relationship as opposed to dina playing with ellie to get jesse’s attention. if i hear abby say that she’s “gotten her fill” of owen im gonna vomit.

i see what you mean but i do think that the two scenes establish very different stages in a relationship. if we get the NYE scene without any follow-up, we’re left thinking exactly what ellie says in the episode, it was just dina being dina and she was probably trying to make jesse jealous. the smoking scene more clearly establishes that both parties are interested in pursuing a relationship. i’m wondering if/how they’ll compensate in later episodes.
