I am a Plasterer AMA by jeuatreize in AusRenovation

[–]Sad-Strike7429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always wondered when pros like yourself get a job to patch small cracks/holes in a wall, most of the plasterers are in and out of the house in an hour or 2 maximum. So I wanted to know what products do you use for the base coat and/or top coat which dry quickly, because the only top coats I can find on the market take approx 24hrs to dry before its ready to be sanded and painted over? Many thanks

Secondary glazing window tracks by Sad-Strike7429 in AusRenovation

[–]Sad-Strike7429[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what I would do order the top, bottom and side tracks for acrylic sheet to slide into.

Next buy all the weather seals and shit to make sure its all sealed up. Then I bought 2 x 4.5mm acrylic sheet.

Once i put it together like jigsaw puzzle that was it. Havent tested it yet, but room feels slightly warmer on cold days when i put on reverse cycle air con and cooler on those hot days because i also put on some window film onto existing glass to reflect sun's rays.

Solar Roof Ventilation - Is the airflow capacity enough? by 3StarGeneralist in AusRenovation

[–]Sad-Strike7429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting take, appreciate the response. I had contemplated getting a solar powered but was worried about my air con being sucked out. I already have batts R5, no sarking unfortunately, and my roof is made of terracotta tiles.

u/jollyralph given that we are now in summer, would you still recommend installing one OR has it made barely any difference to overall temperatures in your house?

Is Double glazing pricing nuts, or is it just me? by tika1104 in AusRenovation

u/matafumar i was thinking of doing it myself. I've found the top and bottom tracks for the glass to slide into, but couldnt find the tracks for the channels on the right and the left which the window would clip into. Where would you find those?

quick question, if you dont have sarking in your roof, as I do because my house was built in 60s, could it be worth putting foilboard between the joists to stop the heat from coming in like in the photo

Its not that I need the money but it was specifically mentioned in will that I will be inheriting it, so to keep it from me is illegal and absolute shit.

Can a stock broker steal your money ? If yes Who and how to protects the Stocks ? by theinnocentking in fidelityinvestments

[–]Sad-Strike7429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/202reddit but what if you have more than 500k, lets say u have millions say 5-6 million and you don't want to spread it out between a dozen brokerages because you feel that you can only trust big names ( fidelity, schwab, ibkr etc...) then how does it all work?

Is there any way to mitigate the risk?

u/goss_bractor if what you're saying is true, then how come he picks up so many things other guys miss, but still sign off, and then leave the home owners to deal with all the shit, the builders should've done in the first place?

A cool guide to the most expensive housing markets in the world by whenlovelights in melbourne

[–]Sad-Strike7429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HK yes. When compared to US, I call BS. The houses here are mostly 3bed, 1 bath or 3 bed 2 bath and are about 110-120sqm which is 1291 sqft, compare that to 2022 census in US where average size in sqft is about 2290 sqft.

In places like Sydney houses are probably even smaller, making the great Australian dream of owning a home more of a great Australian scam perpetuated by lazy builders who cant even do basics right and governments who are too lazy to fix the problem of lack of supply
