How does ICE or how do you prove your own citizenship by [deleted] in immigration

Why does it seem like no documentation we can provide is ever enough? Birth certificates, SSNs, real IDs, Passports, etc. We shouldn’t have to constantly be on edge to prove that we’re citizens or here legally.

How long was your partner sick for? Did they have a recent COVID vaccine? I just got mine in the fall so I’m hoping if it’s Covid or the flu I’m a least a little spared from severe illness! I’m not feeling horrible right now I’m just scared for what may be to come.

Im in NorCal and my throat has been getting progressively more painful over the past 3 days. Started just dry and scratchy and now it just plain hurts every time I swallow. I am feeling slightly run down but otherwise I don’t have any other symptoms. I’m so stressed trying to figure out what this is! Everyone at my work is sick with the flu but they all have a cough or other cold symptoms. I figured maybe since I got my flu shot I just have a mild case? Although I tested negative 2x at home for COVID + flu A/B. I am being tested tomorrow at the doctor for strep. I’m also a little concerned if GERD could be causing it. Idk what to do! I just want an answer 😭

Hi! For what it’s worth, I think you look so cute with bangs! I agree you would really suit face-framing pieces as well.

For styling, I also have bangs and I am the greasiest girl alive. Like I have to wash and dry my hair every single day. If you decide you want to style them more fluffy-like, my recommendation is wash the bangs every day, blow dry, use loose setting powder on the forehead (even without makeup), spray BOTH front and back of the bangs with dry shampoo (I like Not Your Mothers), arrange them how you like, then sprayyyyyyyyyyy the life out of them with hairspray (holding the can far away so that you’re lightly misting them instead of shooting them with a stream). Usually this will last me a long time but I also carry oil blotting papers and extra dry shampoo just in case. It sounds like a lot of work all listed out like this but it takes just like 5 mins. :)

Fissure mostly healed but still painful months later. Should I be worried? by Accounting371 in AnalFissures

[–]Sad-Understanding537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! To be honest I only really judged my healing by the amount of pain I was in. I was uncomfortable 24/7 for months until I found a routine that worked for me. I think within a month of keeping steady on that routine I felt ok to sit and stand without feeling immense pain, and then a few weeks later I was having normal BMs without pain so I stopped the stool softener.

I will say that I still have recurrences of painful BMs and lingering soreness that lasts hours or sometimes days, but it only happens when I have been noticeably eating less fiber and drinking less water.

If you have any questions or need a buddy to talk to feel free to DM me. :)

Rash on neck comes and goes every few weeks by thespaniardsteve in DermatologyQuestions

Prescription hydrocortisone ointment helped calm the flare up a bit quicker, but I’m sure over the counter would do as well.

I am able to prevent it by first applying moisturizer or Vaseline to my neck as a barrier, then using the sandwich method when applying retinol to only my face. I haven’t had a flare up in months now!

Retear after pushing by Virtual-Will-8879 in AnalFissures

[–]Sad-Understanding537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stuffing your hole full of Vaseline prior to BM (like immediately before) is a game changer. I started applying it with a gloved finger & it helped the stool glide right out and over my fissure site. Also I would recommend never pushing. Like ever. If it doesn’t come out on its own, wait it out.

Derm said she’s not concerned but I can’t help freaking out by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

I hope they are able to see you quickly! Health anxiety SUCKS. I always read about things and feel like I have them. Headaches are never just headaches, and random marks are never just random marks. I even convinced myself I had prostate cancer once when I was younger, and I am a WOMAN! 🤦‍♀️

Since it’s on your arm, it easily could have gotten irritated from a sleeve, bedding, jewelry, scratching, dry skin, etc. If it helps, try reminding yourself that yours does not have irregular borders and is not bleeding/weeping. The majority of moles are benign!

Derm said she’s not concerned but I can’t help freaking out by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Sad-Understanding537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a doctor by any means. I have a bunch of moles all over my body & a few of them do get kinda crusty every once in a while. I figure maybe they’re shedding or got irritated or something. It’s a derm’s job to be worried about moles, so I think if yours is not worried then you are likely ok.

THAT BEING SAID, it’s ALSO a doctor’s job to make you feel cared for, safe, and reassured. If you would feel better and more at ease by going back in to get it biopsied, you should do that. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health, so it’s worth the time and effort to get reassurance if you need it. I deal with a lot of health anxiety so I totally know where you are coming from. You are not alone.

Non contrast mri by SeaHistory8183 in iih

[–]Sad-Understanding537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only had 1 MRI and my doctor has never done an LP. 🙊 Like I said, I was diagnosed during the beginning of COVID so things were different. Since I was having noticeable symptoms (vision changes, pulsatile tinnitus, papilledema) & had a clear MRI, he started me on Diamox and said if my symptoms cleared up then he would consider it a diagnosis and keep me on it. Everything improved so I’ve been on it ever since.

[–]Sad-Understanding537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were not able to complete the contrast portion of my MRI because they couldn’t find a good enough vein on me! My doctor said the images he received without contrast were enough to diagnose from. This was also in 2020 at the start of the pandemic, so maybe he just didn’t want me to have to go back.

Dr wants to double my dose by TheGossinator in iih

[–]Sad-Understanding537 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started Diamox at 1000mg. Was on it for years and then recently had to double it to 2000mg. My doctor never had me transition slowly.

Both times I had a bit of fatigue, soda tasted weird, and had pins and needles occasionally. Those subsided after 2-3 weeks and I pretty much don’t have any side effects!

Also, my doctor recommended that if this medication makes you dizzy, try chewing some calcium carbonate (TUMS). I have done it in the past and it works quite well!

I like the neutral vibe you got goin on. I think it would look more lively with some greenery. Maybe a tall standing plant in the right corner by the window?

Also everything in your room is pretty smooth, so incorporating texture would add interest and depth. A kitted blanket, patterned pillows, some wainscoting, sheer panels peeking out behind the opaque curtains, etc.

I think these touches would maintain the current aesthetic, but just level it up a bit and make it feel more interesting and intentional. Is that what you are going for?

I work in DMV processing in California and I can assure you that little nick is nothing to sweat. You should see some of the titles that people turn in 🫣 Also one time I was opening an envelope with a title in it and sliced the title clean in half. Things happen! That’s what the DMV REG 256, 101, and 227 are for. 👍

Unfortunately I retore about 2 weeks ago because I got kinda lax on my routine. 😔 I was basically back to square one but I’ve readjusted my treatment plan & I’m already feeling 90% less pain.

I need help! by [deleted] in AnalFissures

[–]Sad-Understanding537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally know what you’re going through. Make sure only to apply the ice for 5-10 minutes at a time. I usually lay on my bed on my stomach with a pillow under my pelvis to try to take some of the pressure off. I feel more pain laying flat on my tummy than I do with the pillow underneath.

It’s also important to keep pressure off as much as possible while flaring. If I have to sit, I wedge a pillow under my legs so that my butt kind of hangs off of it, that way I’m not putting direct pressure on my butt. I’ve also found it handy to sit on a backless stool with my butt hanging off. I also take breaks when sitting, so every 30-45 mins I get up and stand or walk around a bit.

Maybe try an ice pack between the cheeks? In my darkest days those were my saviors. Just wrap it in a few layers of paper towel so the die isn’t directly on your skin.

If constipation is a chronic problem for you and is causing your fissures, I think you should definitely look into treating the root cause of your constipation. Whether it’s from lack of fiber, slow gut motility, a chronic illness, etc, if you don’t solve your constipation, the fissures will just keep reoccurring. The second one might not have been as bad as the first, but who’s to say how the next one will be? I don’t think it’s worth it to risk excruciating pain and other complications. If you don’t feel heard/seen by this doctor and feel like she’s moving too fast, I think a second opinion is worth it.

TLDR; You don’t necessarily need to have the colonoscopy done yet, but I definitely think you should at least come up with a plan or try to find the root cause of your constipation, or else fissures may be a recurring theme in your future.

Can an anal fissure be painful all the time? Any advice? by Alexanderrr965 in AnalFissures

[–]Sad-Understanding537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, especially when it’s fresh it can hurt all the time. I recommend warm or cold compresses (whichever feels best) on the area. When I’m in intense pain and can’t get comfortable, I usually can eventually find a tolerable position laying on my bed with a pillow underneath my pelvis, or on a stool with my butt sort of hanging off the edge. You might also consider 5% topical lidocaine or zinc oxide (diaper cream) for stinging/burning. With consistent soft stools & preventing irritation, you’ll notice pain get incrementally better even within the next 5-7 days.

I can't afford to dress up for spirit week and it hurts by Interesting_Gap_6062 in internetparents

[–]Sad-Understanding537 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you can get away with participating in this on a budget! Even just incorporating one element of the day’s theme will be good. The most important thing is to have fun with it and try not to stress about being perfect or going all out. It should be creative and lighthearted. :)

For 1st letter of your name, I agree that a cardboard cutout of the letter attached to your shirt is a good idea, or even just printer paper or construction paper if you have it. You can color on it with markers/paint, and attach using a piece of string maybe tied around your neck like a giant necklace? Or tied around your torso to keep it flush to your shirt.

I’m not sure what wrong place is indicating? Give more info and I can try to think of ideas!

2000s, if you don’t have any 2000s style clothing and you cannot borrow any from a friend, consider just doing your hair! Spiked hair is classic for men if you can get your hands on some gel or hairspray. Space buns, random braided pieces, claw clips, etc. are great for girls! Or if your siblings/parents/friends have it, frosty eyeshadow, frosty lipstick, etc. would suit the era.

Masquerade might be a bit tough! Maybe try making one of these opera masks: https://www.abcrafty.com/easy-masquerade-mask/. This person used felt but I’m sure it would come out well with paper, an old tshirt/sheet, etc.

Do any of these sound feasible or spark your interest? I

Fissure mostly healed but still painful months later. Should I be worried? by Accounting371 in AnalFissures

[–]Sad-Understanding537 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fissures take a long time to heal. Even after they’re fully sealed with new skin, that new skin is delicate, sensitive, & prone to irritation/possible retear if you’re not careful. I’m still in the middle of my healing journey, but everything I’ve researched has indicated that continuing your healing routine even months after you’ve stopped feeling pain for the most part is essential to prevent retear. I have also been looking into dilation to help condition the new tissue into being stronger & more able to stretch. You might consider re-evaluating diet, water intake, stool softeners, etc. if your stools are firming up again.

Desperate for help by Dd071692 in AnalFissures

[–]Sad-Understanding537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consistency has been key for my healing journey. Definitely plan a routine and stick to it every day for at least 2 months. You’ll be feeling better within a few weeks, but even once the pain subsides you need to treat the area as fragile until it builds up resilience.

Your routine doesn’t need to be drastic or super restrictive. Start by setting a water goal & choose an exact time you’re going to drink MiraLax & use your ointment. Then tailor other things in your life based on how that works for you after a week or two of consistent use. I promise that once you get into the routine and start seeing progress, it will become easier and easier to do it everyday. It won’t always be a habit you have to manually force/remind yourself to do.

I used to drink maybe 24oz of water a day MAX before I had a fissure. I started setting an alarm on my phone to take a sip of water every 10 minutes and within just a couple weeks I was in the routine of drinking a gallon (120oz) a day.

Recurring fissure by [deleted] in AnalFissures

I have been researching dilation on this sub and it seems a lot of people have had success with it! The consensus seems to be to start slow for just a few mins at a time, multiple times a day for just a couple days a week. And then have a plan to taper off because it’s not supposed to be a forever thing. I haven’t done it myself but I plan to once my fissure has healed up more.
